He is an actor and a model, who is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Jeremy Gilbert in the drama fantasy horror series “The Vampire Diaries”, which aired from 2009 to 2017, and was created by Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson. The series starred Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder, and follows the lives of people living in the city Mystic Falls in Virginia, the home of many vampires and other mythical creatures. The series was a hit in the US as it won 36 awards and was nominated for 66 others – for his performance, Steven was nominated for a Youth Rock Award for Rockin TV Actor in 2011 as well as for a Teen Choice Award for Scene Stealer Male in 2013.
Early life and education
Steven was raised in Los Angeles by his father Chad McQueen who is a film producer and actor, and his mother Stacia Robitaille who is a housewife – his paternal grandparents are the famous Filipino-American actress Neile Adams and the late American actor Steve McQueen. Enrique Iglesias, the famous singer, is Steven’s second cousin.
Steven’s parents divorced when he was in his early teens, and he now has a half-brother and a half-sister from his father’s second marriage, and another half-brother from his mother’s marriage with Luc Robitaille, who is a retired professional ice hockey player.
Steven became interested in acting at a very early age as he was motivated by his father, and after hearing numerous stories about his grandfather’s acting career, he decided to become an actor himself.
He started attending an acting school at the age of 14, and after he matriculated in 2006, Steven chose to focus on his career rather than to pursue a college degree.
Roles in TV series
Steven made his debut TV series appearance in 2005, when he played Jordan Peters in the episode “Blood of the Children” of the science fiction action drama “Threshold”, which was created by Bragi F. The story follows a group of experts hired by the US Navy after a strange object was seen near one of their ships located in the Atlantic Ocean – the series received mostly positive reviews.
He gained recognition in 2006, when he starred as Kyle Hunter in seven episodes of the drama “Everwood”, which starred Treat Williams and Gregory Smith and is about a brain surgeon who, after the death of his wife, sends his two kids to live in Everwood in Colorado – the series was a hit as it won three awards and was nominated for 35 others, including two Primetime Emmys.
The following years saw Steven appear in single episodes of many series, such as the episode “Atomic No. 33” of the critically acclaimed crime drama mystery “Numb3rs” and the episode “True/False” of the crime drama “Without a Trace” both in 2008, and the episode “Gone Baby Gone” of the action crime drama “CSI: Miami” in 2009.
His following role in a TV series came seven years later when he appeared as Jimmy Borelli in three episodes of the action crime drama “Chicago P. D.” which stars Jason Beghe, Jesse Lee Soffer and Patrick John Flueger, and which follows the Intelligence Unit and the uniformed cops working in the Chicago Police Department – the series has been airing since 2014, and has won two awards and been nominated for six others. Steven reprised his role as Jimmy Borelli in 2016, appearing in 25 episodes of the action drama “Chicago Fire” which follows the lives of firefighters working in Chicago, Illinois – it has been airing since 2015 and has won four awards while it has been nominated for 22 others.

Trisha is a TV host and an actress known for her role in the series “Welcome to My World”. They dated for around a year, until in July 2010, Steven began dating Candice King, an American actress and singer who has been married to Joe King since 2014 and has given birth to three of their children – Candice and Steven were together only for several months.
In 2011, Steven started dating Hillary Harley, whom he met on the set of “The Vampire Diaries”, and they were together for over two years before splitting.

1 | Knowing that my granddad was a highly respected actor wasn't necessarily intimidating, but it definitely meant there was always a pressure to live up to his reputation. I think that's why acting wasn't something I even considered doing, as a kid. |
2 | I go to the gym, do some martial arts, and I love poetry. I have a tattoo of my family crest, and another on my back that says 'The Road Not Taken,' which is a poem by Robert Frost. |
3 | I've always been attracted to the 'don't follow the rules' type of girl, the rocker girl. I've always been attracted to somebody who you can lose yourself in the moment with. You can hang out with her, and it's like you're the only two people in the room. |
4 | I think the beautiful thing about acting is you don't really know who you are. You're able to be whatever you want any day during the week. So I really couldn't see myself being anything else. |
5 | I've learned more and more on each show that I've done. I've been blessed and I've gotten to work with some very talented actors - James Gandolfini, Treat Williams. I've kind of always asked for advice and tried to take in as much as I could whenever working with them. |
6 | I started watching movies my grandpa did, and I saw what an impact they made on the world. That's when I said, 'Hey, I want to do that too.' |
7 | I've been watching 'Dexter' recently; I love that show. It's my favorite. |
