Trent Olsen is an American actor, comic book writer, musician, and showbiz personality. He is also known to be an older brother of the famous twin actresses and fashion icons, Mary-Kate and Ashley, best known as the Olsen twins.

Early life, family, educational background

James Trent Olsen, goes by his middle name – he was born on 6 May 1984 in Sherman Oaks, California USA, so holds American nationality. His father, David Olsen is a real estate developer and mortgage banker, and working as the personal manager is his mother, Jarnette Jones. He has three younger siblings, the Olsen twins and Elizabeth.

Trent also has two half siblings from his father second marriage with McKenzie Olsen, Jake and Taylor. He attended North Hollywood High School and matriculated in 2002. He then enrolled at the University of Southern California (USC), studied music, and graduated in Jazz studies in 2006.

Entertainment seems to be an understatement for Trent’s career, as he is known to be an actor, a writer, a musician, and a showbiz personality. He started his acting career when he auditioned for a role as a kid in ‘Tales from the Crypt” in 1989, but unfortunately his parents refused his participation as they thought Trent was too young to be in a horror film.

Later on, he made his first appearance in the first ever video released under their family production Dualstar, appearing in a scene where his twin sisters sang “Brother for Sale” just to irritate him. Following this, he played himself in his twin sisters’ video series “You’re Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley’s Sleepover Party” in 1995. However, he stopped his acting career at the age of 12, but later acted in a scene featuring the rap icon Snoop Dogg in the 2003 movie “Old School”.

He remained involved in the entertainment industry, as he finished his Jazz Studies in USC in 2006. Trent is also a fan of comic books since his childhood, and he used not just to collect them but to write comics as well.

He eventually worked as a writer at Storm King Productions, known for its themes of horror and sci-fi. He is said to be responsible for the series “John Carpenter’s Asylum” and “John Carpenter’s Tales for a Halloween Night”.

Personal life, brother of Olsen Twins

He is known to be as a sociable and total prankster among his acquaintances, as they revealed that Trent used to change his birthday on his Facebook profile every few months. He was also said to sell autographed pictures of his famous sisters.

As to Trent’s love life, he has a dating history with Kacey Style, and was also linked to model Katherine Shane. This also somehow broke the speculation about him being gay, but he is yet to find the perfect one.

One good thing that can be associated with Trent is that he is a good friend. According to a New York Post, there was this time when the father of Trent’s friend died from Lou Gehrig’s disease, he and his friends organized a 10,000-mile cross-country road trip, raising approximately $18,000 that will be used for research.

Who are the Olsen twins?

Ashley Fuller Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen, were born on 13 June 1986. According to news, Ashley is said to be older by a mere two minutes, and the twins were fraternal and so not actually identical. They are both American fashion designers, former actresses and producers.

They started their acting careers when they were only six months old by sharing the role of Michelle Tanner in the hit-show “Full House” (1987-1995). Since then, they made it big in the film industry, appearing in films such as “Getting There” (2002), “The Challenge” (2003), and their last film together in 2004, “New York Minute”.

In 1993 at the age of six, they became the youngest producers in Hollywood history when Dualstar Entertainment was founded, which produced films, and released videos featuring the twins, some being “Passport to Paris” (1999), “Our Lips are Sealed” (2000), and “Holiday in the Sun” (2001). Both of them retired as an actress in 2012 to focus on their interest in the fashion industry.

The twins co-founded the luxury fashion brand “The Row”, established in 2006, with an idea for the perfect T-shirt. It seemed that whatever the twins do turns to gold, because of their passion.

In 2009, Joe Karban (Vice President of sourcing and production, at that time) commented in “The New York Times”, ‘The kids on the team are really passionate about making clothes. How do you set a proper sleeve? How does a fabric perform? It’s the art of making clothes as opposed to making everything cookie-cutter. Plus everything Mary-Kate and Ashley do turns to gold.” Through this, the twins also offered a line called Elizabeth and James, a fashion collection inspired by their siblings.
