Later they moved back to their parents’ hometown of Dallas, so Candice and Chace lived there until their matriculation.

She enjoyed singing, dancing and entertaining her relatives, friends and guests at their family house, and used any chance to perform whenever she had an audience. She later shared that it was only due to her parents’ unconditional love and support that she entered the competition the next year again – she was very busy with studying, working as a personal trainer at the recreational center at the University of Missouri, and also having her sorority responsibilities, yet she was brave enough to sign up for Miss Missouri for the second time. Her father told her: ‘I think this is your year’, and Candice felt much more confident with her decision.
