Early life and education
Stephanie was raised in Wellington by her father who is a delivery man working at the local post office, and her mother who is a piano teacher. Stephanie became interested in weather at a very early age, and was fascinated by rain and storms, while she also enjoyed watching TV documentary shows about tornadoes and volcanoes.
She studied at a local high school, where she played tennis and volleyball while she also practiced acting but was never really good at it. She also attended the educational camp called Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.
Upon matriculation, Stephanie enrolled at the University of Florida located in Gainesville, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest USA academic honor society, and a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography, while her minor was mathematics.
She continued her education at Florida State University in Tallahassee, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. While there, she practiced her on-air skills on the “FSU Live” news and weather program airing on a cable channel in Tallahassee. After her success in the field of meteorology, she served as a teaching assistant at Florida State University.
