Early life and education
Lana was raised in Naples alongside her sister Heather Dockweiler and brother Rodney Weiss, by their father Barry Gomez who died in 2001, and was a firefighter, and their mother Simone Gomez Lutgert who was working as a nurse at a local hospital. The two divorced when Lana was nine years old, and her mother married Scott Lutgert.
She grew up being interested in arts after her teacher praised her drawing skills while she was attending high school. She was also physically active at school, as she was playing soccer and tennis; upon matriculating in 2001, she enrolled at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art in 2004. She then moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue her dream of becoming a famous artist.
Career as an artist
Lana gained recognition when she worked for the interior designer Kelly Wearstler in her studio in 2008 and 2009 – Lana’s mural-sized painting was then featured in Kelly’s book “Hue”.
