Who is Amy Stiller? Wiki Bio

Amy Stiller was born in New York City, USA, on 8 September 1961, so her zodiac sign is Virgo and she holds American nationality. Amy is an actress, stand-up comedian, and a writer, but perhaps better known for being the older sister of famous American actor Ben Stiller.

Early life and education

Amy was raised alongside Ben on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City by their father Jerry Stiller who was a comedian and actor, and their mother Anne Meara who was also a comedian and an actress. Anne was Irish Catholic, but took Reform Judaism after marrying Jerry.

Amy decided she wouldn’t followed either religion, but the family celebrated both Christmas and Hanukkah.

It was Ben who started acting first, and after he won his first roles, Amy decided she wanted to become an actress as well. She was a member of her high school’s drama club, appearing in most of the plays there, and upon matriculation, she enrolled at Circle in the Square Theatre School, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in theatre in 1981 (two-year program).

Roles in movies

Amy made her debut film appearance in 1970, portraying the Flower Girl in the comedy “Lovers and Other Strangers”, which starred Gig Young, Bea Arthur and Bonnie Bedella, and which follows two people who are about to get married. The movie won an Oscar for Best Song, and was nominated for seven other awards.

In 1986, she played a supporting role in the comedy film “The Perils of P. K.”, followed by her appearances in the comedy horror movie “Vampire’s Kiss”, which starred Nicholas Cage in 1988, and in the comedy film “That’s Adequate” in 1989, which starred Bruce Willis and Tony Randall.

Love life and relationships

Amy met Rodger Bumpass, an actor best known for voicing Squidward Tentacles in the animated series “SpongeBob SquarePants”, sometime in 2006, while they were shooting for the same movie.

After nearly two years of dating, they married in a small ceremony attended by only their relatives and family, as they decided to keep their marriage away from the media’s attention. The two divorced sometime in the ‘10s without the media learning about it – they don’t have any children. Rodger married once again in July 2019, choosing his high school sweetheart Angela VanZandt (screenwriter and musician) for his second wife,  and they don’t have any children together.

Amy was previously in a long-term relationship while she was attending Circle in the Square Theatre School – she and a mysterious actor dated for over three years before parting ways.

She is currently single, has been married just the once, and doesn’t have children.
