What is Y2K’s real name?
Ari David Starace was born in Scottsdale, Arizona USA on 27 July 1994 – his zodiac sign is Leo and he holds American nationality. He is a music producer and a recording artist known as Y2K, who gained recognition in 2019 after his rap song “Lalala” became very popular on the music network Spotify, and on YouTube.
Childhood and education
Y2K was raised as an only child in Scottsdale by his mother who was the owner of a music store even before he was born, and his father who was working with electronics.
As he was growing up, there was always music in Y2K’s house, which motivated him to become a musician one day, and find his own favorite genres and artists. He attended a local elementary school, and during his teenage years mostly listened to Tears for Fears and Gorillaz, but as he was grew older, he started listening to rock bands Say Anything and My Chemical Romance.
Not long after matriculation in 2012, Y2K was introduced to Clams Casino, an Italian-American record producer, by his close friend Lil B who is an American rapper.
After this, Y2K started working on creating his own music, before also starting to produce for other rappers.
Producing songs for other rappers
Y2K launched this part of his career in early 2016, when he produced Pollari’s song “How U Feel”, and then went on to work with Lil Aaron on seven of his songs featured on his extended play (EP) “Gloing Pain$”.
They year 2017 saw Y2K collaborate with various rappers, such as Polyphia on six songs featured on his EP “The Most Hated”, Blackbear on his song “do re mi (Y2K Remix)”, and Aaron Cartier on three songs on his EP “Aaron Cariter Best Rapper Last Album… Maybe HaHa!!”.
He also worked on producing single release for many artists, such as Ro Ransom, Lil Aaron and Josh Pan.
Y2K’s busiest year so far has probably been 2018, as he collaborated with around 10 rappers on over 30 songs – he worked with Lewis Grant on his EP “Make Me Scared Again (Deluxe Edition)”, Killy on his EP “KILLSTREAK”, and Polyphia on his EP “New Levels New Devils”. Y2K also produced Yung Bans’ songs “Waterslide” and “Ridin”, as well as Khary’s single “Dead”.
In 2019, he produced a total of 11 songs for the rapper bbno$ (‘baby no money’) for his EPs “Recess”, “Dream Eater” and “I Don’t Care At All”, while he also collaborated with Lil Mayo, Yung Gravy and Iann Dior. Most recently in 2020, Y2K has worked on Leyla Blue’s single “Peppa Pig”, Yung Gravy’s song “Welcome to Chillis” and bbno$’s songs “Myrtle Beach Summer 1874” and “Bandsville”.
Y2K released his debut song “Money Conversation” in 2018, featuring bbno$, and in the same year released “Thankful” featuring bbno$ and Lewis Grant – his two new songs “Pouch” and “Lalala” came out in 2019, while his latest three songs released in 2020 are “Go Dumb”, “Oh No” and “Damage is Done”.
Y2K launched his YouTube channel on 2 July 2019, and today it’s subscribed to by over 1.75 million people, while it counts close to 450 million views of all Y2K’s videos combined.
He’s mostly focused on uploading music content, and his most popular video “how to make the beat for lalala in 3 minutes (asmr?)” has been viewed nearly 13 million times since 17 October 2019. He is also active on Instagram, and is followed by around 250,000 people, while his Twitter account which he opened in June 2012 is followed by over 50,000 fans.
Is he gay? What is his gender?
Y2K’s gender is male, but he hasn’t been very clear on whether or not he’s gay.
On 10 September 2017, he (confusingly, jokingly?) asked his fans on Twitter if it is gay to have a girlfriend because kissing a girl would mean kissing all the men she kissed before you, while he has occasionally written other tweets about being gay, but without stating what his sexual orientation is. On another occasion, Y2K stated that he was in a relationship with Janice Griffith who is a pornographic actress, and has uploaded a picture of him carrying a girl in his arms whom he addresses as Janice, but the girl doesn’t appear to be her.
As he hasn’t talked about any girls he might be dating today, Y2K is single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children – it is widely believed that he is gay, but it hasn’t been confirmed.
Hobbies and other interests
Y2K spends most of his spare time being creative with music, coming up with different beats and combining songs together, but when he is not using his laptop, computer or phone, he enjoys being outdoors, going partying and drinking alcohol.
He is a lover of animals, with dogs being his favorites, but doesn’t have a pet due to a lack of time to take proper care of it.
Y2K likes to travel, and has been all around the US for both work and pleasure, while he’s also been to Europe, Asia and Australia on occasions.
Y2K doesn’t watch movies that often, but when he does he makes sure they star some of his favorite actors and actresses: Jim Carrey, Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman. A few of his favorite movies are “Ace Venture: Pet Detective – When Nature Calls”, the franchise “The Pirates of the Caribbean” and “V for Vendetta”.
Age and new worth
Y2K’s age is 26. He has long brown hair and brown eyes, his height is 5ft 10ins (1.78m) and he weighs around 140lbs (64kgs).
As of October 2020, his net worth has been estimated at over $750,000.
