Childhood and education
Connor was raised an only child in New York City by his Jewish parents Colin Paolo, who is a screenwriter, and Julia Mendelsohn who is a pianist and a vocal coach.
Connor became interested in acting at an early age, and after turning 16 he enrolled at the Professional Performing Arts School, at the same time as future famous actors Paul Iacono and Sarah Hyland. He went on to attend Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, as well as the summer arts camp Appel Farm Arts and Music Center in Elmer, New Jersey.
In 2008, Connor enrolled at New York University, but dropped out after only a single semester to focus full-time on his acting career.
