Stephanie Faracy was born on the 1st January 1952, in Brooklyn, New York City, USA; she is one of three children, with siblings Brian and Peggy Faracy – Peggy has also been involved in acting, but wasn’t nearly as successful as her sister.
Although born in Brooklyn, Stephanie spent her childhood in Elk Grove Village, Illinois USA, and attended Elk Grove High School, where she developed an interest in acting, and pursued a career in the profession after matriculation. She enrolled at Illinois Wesleyan University, and then attended the prestigious Yale School of Drama, within Yale University, and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in drama.
Career Beginnings and Initial Success
Stephanie’s career started in the mid- ‘70s with a minor role in the TV series “Laverne & Shirley” (1976), but it was just enough for her to obtain a supporting role in the indie film “Heaven Can Wait” (1978), starring Warren Beatty, James Mason and Julie Christie.
The role in this romantic drama film propelled her to stardom, and even before the ‘70s ended, Stephanie had made several notable appearances. She was Gail Collins in the TV comedy series “The Last Resort”, then appeared in the comedy film “Scavenger Hunt”, starring Richard Benjamin, James Coc, and Scatman Crothers, and had a co-starring role in the drama film “When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder”.
