He ceased all contact and cut out all connections with his father when he was just seven years old, talking about him as abusive and violent towards him and his ex-wife, Joe’s mother. He lived in various places, moving from San Francisco, to Gainsville, Florida, before settling in Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts, where he went to Newton South High School, from which he matriculated in 1985.
Joe enrolled at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, however, he quit very soon following the enrollment.
While in his teenage years, Joe became interested in mixed martial arts and when he turned 14 years old, he entered karate lessons and a year later began learning taekwondo. Five years later he won the lightweight US Open Taekwondo Championship tournament, and also became the Massachusetts full-contact state champion, a title he held for four consecutive years. He eventually became a taekwondo instructor.
Joe is best known to the world for his podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience”, but before he launched his own show, Joe worked on several other projects.
He started as an actor in the show “Hardball” in 1994, and a year later he joined the cast of the series “NewsRadio”. In 1997 he became the color commentator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and has interviewed many UFC stars as well as commentating on numerous high-profile bouts.
