Who is Kishele Shipley?
Kishele Shipley is probably most famous for being the girlfriend of the American professional basketball player Kawhi Leonard, who is currently playing as the small forward for the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Los Angeles Clippers, and is a two-time winner of the NBA Championship title, in 2014 and 2019.
Kishele was born under the zodiac sign of Aries on the 10th April 1989, in San Diego, California, the middle of three children of Cathy Marie and Kenneth Shipley. She is of American nationality, mixed ethnicity, and has two siblings, an older sister named Kenisha and a younger one named Kasandra.
She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University in 2012, majoring in public administration. After that, Kishele served as a ‘human resource professional‘ in her home town.
Kishele and Kawhi
The couple first met at San Diego State University where they both studied, and began their relationship shortly afterwards, but kept it low profile. In late 2014 they moved out of California and settled in San Antonio, Texas. After less than two years of mutual life, in July 2016 Kishele and Kawhi welcomed their first child, a daughter named Kaliyah.
In early 2019 the couple announced their second pregnancy while in April 2019 they were blessed with baby boy Mark, born at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada, and named after Kawhi’s father who was tragically murdered in 2008. However, being quite a secretive couple, they haven’t revealed any other relevant details about their relationship or private life.
Kawhi Anthony Leonard was born on the 29th June 1991, in Los Angeles, California, the youngest of five children and the only son of Kim Robertson and Mark Leonard. Kawhi began his secondary education at Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, California, but not long after enrolled at Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, California. During his high school years, he was a member of the King High Wolves basketball team and was eventually named California’s Mr. Basketball in his senior year.
In 2009 Kawhi enrolled at San Diego State University, and became a member of its Aztecs basketball team.
During his college career, he lead his team to win the Mountain West Conference championship title, and earned several accolades such as the MWC Tournament MVP in 2010, MWS Freshman of the Year, First Team All-MWS, as well as the Second Team All-America. In February 2020, Leonard became the first player in the history of San Diego State University whose jersey (No. 15) was retired.
Kawhi’s professional basketball career began in 2011 when the Indiana Pacers selected him as pick No. 15 overall at the NBA Draft, however, that same night he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs.
Due to a calf injury he did not appear at the 2012 Rising Stars Challenge, but was later named as a member of the USA’s Select Team. At the end of the 2011-12 season he was selected for the NBA All-Rookie First Team. In February 2013 Kawhi played at the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge while later in the season he lead his team to the NBA Finals game, which they lost to the Miami Heat. In 2014 he helped the Spurs to reach the Finals one more time, again facing the Miami Heat, but this time coming out victorious with Leonard setting his career-high score with 29 points. Besides winning the Championship ring, he also became the third-youngest player to win the NBA Finals MVP accolade.
After playing for the Spurs for seven consecutive seasons Kawhi, who earned the nickname ‘Klaw‘, transferred to the Toronto Raptors in July 2018. He quickly earned his place on the rooster, and eventually led his team to the Eastern Conference Finals, while raising his career-high record to 45 points in a single game. Under his leadership, the Raptors easily roamed through the NBA Playoffs and earned their place at the 2019 NBA Finals where they clashed against the Golden State Warriors and claimed the title.
Apart from his second NBA Championship title, Kawhi was also honored with the NBA Finals MVP Award, the second time in his career.
In July 2019, Kawhi signed a three-year long playing contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, valued at $103 million. In January 2020 in a win over the Miami Heat, he made his first triple-double, while later in February at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game, he was rewarded with the NBA All-Star Game Kobe Bryant Most Valuable Player Award.
Speaking as of mid-2020 about Kishele Shipley‘s net worth, authoritative sources have estimated that it figures as high as $2 million, while the total wealth of her husband Kawhi Leonard has been estimated at $35 million, but with an annual salary of $23 million this would seem sure to grow.
