She probably benefits from the success of her wife as well, as Tig has a net worth estimated to be over $750,000 thanks to success with her comedy work.

Early Life and Career Beginnings

Stephanie spent most of her youth in Claremont though her family later moved to Buffalo, New York State, where she attended high school and developed an interest in acting. She didn’t take up any college education, and instead went to Los Angeles where she trained as a part of the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), known for their work in comedy sketches and improvisations. Some of their notable alumni include Amy Poehler, Horatio Sanz, Adam McKay and Matt Walsh.

She improved her improvisation, and began performing regularly with several improv groups, and also worked on a few local theatrical productions. Like many aspiring actors, she then pursued work on television, making her debut with the Brigade in “UCB Comedy Originals”, which aired sporadically during the early to mid-2010s. At around the same time, she became a regular cast member of the website “Funny or Die”, which was created by UCB alumni. Their comedy videos were often released online and featured high-profile actors.

Continued Acting Work

With her connections in comedy, Allynne found consistent work as a guest on various shows, including “Key & Peele”, “2 Broke Girls”, “Comedy Bang! Bang!” and “The Mindy Project”.

She often had minor uncredited roles attracting little notice from the audience. Despite that, she continued her work and made her feature film debut in “In a World…” which started to bring her attention. The comedy film starred Lake Bell, and followed the story of a vocal coach who intends to do work voicing-over film trailers.

Other projects she did were mostly independent short films; some of her early projects include “No Is a Full Sentence”, “The Boyfriend Experience: Girls & Ribs” and “Turkey Day”. In 2015, she was cast in “People Places Things” which starred her alongside Jermaine Clement and Regina Hall.

After numerous other projects, she co-wrote for the show “One Mississippi”, which she also starred in. The show aired on Amazon Prime and is a semi-autobiographical series inspired by the life of her wife, comedian Tig Notaro. In recent years, she’s had more prominent projects – one of her latest films is “Pacific Rim Uprising”, the sequel to 2013’s “Pacific Rim”, though it received divisive reviews compared to the original.

Wife – Tig Notaro

Tig Notaro was born in Jackson, Mississippi, though her family later moved to nearby Pass Christian where she spent a few of her early years. After kindergarten, her family moved to Houston, Texas where she would take up her education, and grow-up alongside an older brother who would pursue a career on radio.

She didn’t enjoy her time in school, mostly failing her classes until she eventually dropped out of high school. She later realized that a high school education was necessary for some of the jobs she was working for, so she later got a General Education Development (GED) certificate in Texas.

Aspiring to become a part of the music industry, Tig moved to Denver, Colorado where she gained a job as a band manager during the mid-1990s, and marketed herself under the name Tignation Promotions. Her work there eventually led her to one of the hubs of entertainment in the US, Los Angeles, where she became interested in stand-up comedy, and tried her first routine in a local club.

Eventually, she got hooked and developed her routine, attracting the attention of several notable television programs.

The Success of Tig Notaro

A lot of Notaro’s fans enjoyed her style of dark comedy as she had no reservations towards doing comedy on any topic, regardless if it’s dark. Over the years, she shifted more towards comedy inspired by her journey and experiences. Her current comedic efforts showcase her being more in touch with her past, as opposed to being a distant observer in her earlier routines. A few of the television programs she first appeared in were “Comedy Central Presents” and “The Sarah Silverman Program”.

In 2011, she released her first stand-up album “Good One” leading to her first big success the following year “Love”.

After appearing on “Conan”, Notaro made a string of guest appearances on other television networks, and on radio. A lot of people also tuned in to her fight against cancer, with a stand-up tour and documentary made about her working with the disease. In 2015, she participated in the film “Tig” which features her alongside her husband as they attempt pregnancy to start a family. In 2015, she helped create the series “One Mississippi”, which details a few events of her past.

Around the same time, she received critical acclaim for her special “Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted”. One of her latest projects is the YouTube series “Under a Rock with Tig Notaro” in which she interviews celebrity guests.

Personal Life

Stephanie met Tig on the set of the film “In a World…” in 2013, and at the time, she identified as a straight woman. It was unusual for her to start a romantic interest with Tig, but she did and the two started a relationship. They became engaged in 2015, marrying later in the year. After various attempts at pregnancy, the two eventually settled for a surrogate pregnancy in 2016 which led to the birth of twin sons.
