Tom Ackerley was born in Surrey, England on 1 January 1990 – his zodiac sign is Capricorn and he holds British nationality. Tom is an assistant film director and producer, but perhaps best known for being the husband of Margot Robbie, an Australian actress and movie producer.
Childhood and education
Tom was raised in Surrey an only child by his father who was a real estate agent and his mother who was a nurse at a local hospital. He grew up being interested in sports and played soccer with his friends, something rather common in England.
He attended a local high school at which he was a member of the drama club, while he was also playing soccer for the school’s team; he also started to like golf after he played it once with his father.
Upon matriculation in 2008, Tom enrolled at Godalming College in Surrey, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre in 2012.
Credits as a film producer
Tom made his producing debut in 2017, when he worked on the biographical comedy drama “I, Tonya” which starred his wife Margot Robbie, Sebastian Stan and Allison Janney, and which is about a professional ice skater whose husband is against her pursuing a career in that field. The movie was a huge success, winning 46 awards including an Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (Allison Janney), while it was nominated for 122 other awards.
In 2018, Tom produced the crime thriller movie “Terminal”, which was both directed and written by Vaughn Stein, but which received rather poor reviews. Tom was quite busy in 2014, as he was the third assistant director on three movies – “The Two Faces of January” “Pride”, and “Suite Francaise”, while he also served as the third assistant director for two episodes of the series “Da Vinci’s Demons”, and the second assistant director for the action thriller movie “Everly”. The year 2015 saw him work on the action thriller series “American Odyssey”, but which ended after airing its first season, and he was then second assistant director for the short drama movie “Yussef Is Complicated”.

In December 2016, the two married in a small ceremony in Byron Bay, New South Wales, attended by only their best man and woman as they kept their marriage hidden for several months before the public found out about it.
