Who is Whitney Alford?
Whitney Alford was born in Compton, California USA, on 12 May 1986 – her zodiac sign is Taurus and she holds American nationality. She is a make-up artist and a licensed esthetician, but perhaps better known for being the fiancé of famous American rapper Kendrick Lamar.
Childhood and education
Whitney was raised an only child in Compton by her African-American father who was a janitor, and her bi-racial mother who worked as a cashier at a local grocery store.
Whitney grew up being interested in modelling, as she and her girlfriends would talk about it nearly every day, read girly magazines and watching movies and TV series.
She attended Centennial High School at which she was physically very active, as she ran track, played soccer and practiced her acting skills with the school’s drama club, believing exercising would help her become fit and ready for her modelling career.
It was while attending Centennial that Whitney met Kendrick Lamar, and they became best friends before venturing into a relationship. After she matriculated in 2004, Whitney decided not to enroll at college but to focus on her career.
Whitney’s career
Whitney has since been working as a make-up artist and an aesthetician, and is today the owner of her own salon in Los Angeles, California.
Whitney is quite active on Instagram, and is followed by close to 9,000 people while she has uploaded nearly 150 pictures, most of which have been taken during her everyday life.
Relationship with Kendrick Lamar
Whitney and Kendrick have been dating since their early high school days, on and off for nearly two decades now, however, a paparazzi noticed on 24 March 2015 that Whitney had a huge rock on her ring finger, perhaps indicating that she and Kendrick might be engaged. Both of them decided not to comment on the rumors until 3 April, when Kendrick was invited to appear in the radio show “The Breakfast Club”, when he stated that the two were indeed engaged.
While most people were happy to hear about the two, the Dark Skin Activist named Rashida Strober attacked Kendrick on social media networks, claiming that he doesn’t respect his black heritage, and how she will never again buy another one of his records.
On 26 July 2019, Whitney gave birth to her and Kendrick’s daughter.
Hobbies and other interests
Whitney is a philanthropist who has volunteered with various charity organizations, and has donated money to foundations working with underprivileged children. She is also a supporter of the movement Black Lives Matter, and has walked several peaceful protests together with Kendrick.
She has several training sessions at the gym each week to stay in shape, while she is also taking good care of her mental health, as she does yoga and meditates on an almost daily basis.
Whitney likes to read books in her spare time, and her favorite is “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” by Milan Kundera.
She is keen on watching movies, and a few of her favorite actors and actresses are Will Smith, Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman, while some of her favorite movies are “I, Robot”, “I Am Legend” and “Seven Pounds”.
Age and height
Whitney’s age is 24. She has long brown hair and brown eyes, her height is 5ft 8ins (1.73m) and she weighs around 135lbs (61kgs). As of October 2020, her net worth has been estimated at over $1 million, while Kendrick’s net worth is reputedly over $18 million.
Who is Kendrick Lamar?
Kendrick Lamar Duckworth was born in Compton on 17 June 1987 – his zodiac sign is Gemini and he holds American nationality. He is a rapper, record producer and a songwriter, who gained recognition with the release of his second studio album, “Good Kid, M.A.A.D City” on 22 October 2012.
Kendrick was raised in a family of gang members, as his father was a member of Gangster Disciples. Everything changed for Kendrick when he saw Dr. Dre and Tupac Shakur filming the music video “California Love”, and determined that he would become a rapper himself one day. He studied at McNair Elementary and Vanguard Learning Center, and then matriculated from Centennial Middle School with straight A’s – he still decided not to continue working on his education, but to focus on his career as a rapper.
His debut mixtape “Youngest Head Nigga in Charge (Hub City Threat: Minor of the Year)” came out in 2004, and helped Kendrick sign a contract with Top Dawg Entertainment, while his debut extended play (EP) was released in 2009. He attracted a lot of attention after the release of his critically acclaimed mixtape “Overly Dedicated” on 14 September 2010, and on 2 July 2011, Kendrick released his debut studio album “Section.80”.
To this day, Kendrick has released four full-length albums, one EP, five mixtapes, one compilation album, 55 music videos and 43 singles – he has been nominated for 399 awards, winning 160.
Kendrick is a devoted Christian who was baptized in 2013, and who became religious after one of his closest friends died. He stated in 2012 that he was against voting as he believes that it changes nothing, however, this changed when Barack Obama entered the presidential race in 2016, as Kendrick got to meet Barack and stated how he was voting for him.
