Tyisha Hampton was born in the USA, on 17 July 1978 – her zodiac sign is Gemini and she holds American nationality. She is an actress, but who is perhaps best known for being the ex-wife of Kel Mitchell, a famous American actor, stand-up comedian and singer.

Early life and education

Tyisha was raised an only child in the US by her father who was a taxi driver, and her mother who worked at a café as a waitress before switching to a job at a local supermarket. The family led a rather modest life, as they had just enough money to cover their bills and put food on the table.

Tyisha became interested in acting while attending high school, and began practicing her skills at the school’s drama club, while she also often attended theatre plays, and occasionally talked to the actors and actresses, asking them for advice. She matriculated in 1995, and started working to financially support herself while attending auditions and trying to launch her career as an actress.

Tyisha made her debut TV series appearance in 1997, when she portrayed Nikki in the episode “The Date” of the comedy series “City Guys” starring Wesley Jonathan, Scott Whyte and Caitlin Mowrey in the story which follows two high school students who are trying to avoid Karen Boble, their school’s principle.

In 1998 Tyisha guest starred as the Cute Girl in the episode “Blast from the Past” of the comedy family series “Cousin Skeeter”, which starred Rondell Sheridan, Angela Means and Meagan Good, and she also appeared in the episode “Happy B-Day Marc” of the comedy family series “Kenan & Kel”.

In 2005, Tyisha produced and wrote her one and only comedy movie “Ganked”, starring her ex-husband Kel Mitchell, Natalie Raitano and Nora Farlice, and which is about a singer who wins a contest with his song, only to have it stolen by successful singer Kennedy Ross.

Tyisha’s latest work in the entertainment industry was in 2008 when she portrayed the supporting character Toni in the thriller movie “Voyeur: In Hindsight”, directed and written by Danielle L. Ross.

Love life and marriage with Kel Mitchell

Tyisha and Kel Mitchell met in 1996 at a party organized for actors and actresses who were still working their way up in the film industry, and they started dating a few days later. In 1999, the two married in a small ceremony attended by their closest friends and family, and in the same year,Tyisha gave birth to their son, while their daughter followed in 2002. In 2005 the couple divorced, due to what appears to have been Kel’s infidelity, but Kel became depressed, had suicidal thoughts and began abusing drugs. He found comfort in religion and became a devoted Christian, then found love again and married rapper Asia Lee on 25 February 2012, who gave birth to their daughter in July 2017 – they announced in May 2020 that they are expecting again.

Kel is probably best known for having portrayed the lead character in the sketch comedy series “All That”, which aired from 1994 to 2016, and which also starred Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon and Kenan Thompson.

Kel was raised on the South Side area of Chicago alongside his two sisters, Kyra and Kenyatta, by their parents who were both part of the entertainment industry. Kel studied at Chicago Vocational High School while simultaneously practicing acting at the ETA Creative Arts Foundation – after matriculation in 1995, he decided to focus on his acting career rather than to honor his parent’s wish and enroll at a college.

He made his debut TV series appearance in 1994 in “All That”, and in 1996 portrayed the lead character Kel in the comedy series “Kenan & Kel”. He then appear in single episodes of many series, such as “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” in 1998, “Figure It Out” in 1999 and “Two Heads Are Better Than None” in 2000, before he made his debut voicing performance in the educational animated children’s series “Clifford the Big Red Dog” – he voiced T-Bone and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer In An Animated Program in both 2001 and 2002.

Kel made his debut film appearance in 1997 when he portrayed Ed in the comedy movie “Good Burger”, and in 1999, he was the Invisible Boy in the superhero comedy movie “Mystery Men”. After playing Martin in the live-action animated adventure movie “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle”, Kel was invited to star in multiple direct-to-video movies, including “Kel Videos Live – This Face Belongs on the Tube” in 2004, “Ganked” in 2005, and “Like Mike 2: Streetball” in 2006. He went on to appear in many other movies, while three of his most recent appearances in films have been in the 2011 martial arts comedy movie “Dance Fu” which he also co-wrote and co-produced, the science fiction movie “Battle of Los Angeles” also in 2011, as well as the drama “Caught on Tape” in 2013.
