Wendy was raised an only child in Kansas City by her Irish father who was a truck driver, and her Portuguese mother who worked as a cleaning lady.
She became interested in acting while attending BMC Durfee High School, and started appearing in school plays – she was also physically active as she played soccer and badminton.
