Known for movies
You have probably heard of actor Chris Pine, regarded by many as handsome, but did you know that he has an equally gorgeous and talented sister? The former actress keeps her life private, but she can often be seen at red carpet events alongside her brother. Who really is Katherine Pine, and why did she quit acting?
Early life and Family Background
Katherine Gwynne Pine was born on 24 September 1972, in Los Angeles, California USA.
Her father is actor and producer Robert Pine, known for his performance in “CHiPs” in which he played Sergeant Joseph Getraer, and her mother is Gloria Gwynne Gilford, also a former actress, now a psychotherapist. She has a famous younger brother, Chris Pine, who gained worldwide fame as James T. Kirk in the 2009-2016 “Star Trek” film series, as well as Steve Trevor in “Wonder Woman”. The siblings come from a well-known family, as their maternal grandmother, Anne Gwynne, was also a name that was respected in Hollywood, and their maternal grandfather, Max M. Gilford, was a Jewish-Russian attorney and a president of the Hollywood Bar Association.
She has Native American descent, and through her mother has Welsh, French and English ancestry. She’s of white ethnicity. Similar to her brother, not much is known about Katherine’s education, though the siblings grew up with their parents in California, so it is supposed that she finished high school but it’s not known if she went to college. Certain sources state that she was active in school plays and drama classes from her youngest days.
Just like her parents and brother, Pine tried to pursue the acting path.
Her acting debut was in 1997 when she played in a movie called “Heavy Gear”. This role opened up a plethora of new opportunities for her, besides doing voice-overs for the video game that was based on this movie. Next year, she appeared in an episode of the TV series “Love Boat: The Next Wave”, next to big names such as Robert Urich and Phil Morris. She played the role of Rhonda, and despite this series not being received well by the critics, her acting was still noticed. In 1999, she went on to act in “CHiPs ‘99” alongside her brother and her father, and her performance in the movie drew praise, from both critics and fans.
These three roles gave her a place in the industry, and helped her make a name for herself. Despite the appreciation she got from fans and colleagues alike, she rejected subsequent offers, and completely retired from entertainment industry before the start of the new millennium. After this brief try-out in the Hollywood, she went on to study psychotherapy, following her mother. According to some sources, he got her degree in 2005. As of 2020, she is working as a licensed therapist in California, with her main focus to help people with depression, anxiety and problems in a relationship.
She didn’t win any awards for her acting skills, and it is not likely that she will go back to performing in movies or series any time soon.
Overshadowed by Her Brother
After she quit acting, rumors were saying that she realized that she was being overshadowed by her little brother, and that she pulled away from Hollywood because of this. However, there hasn’t been any proof of these allegations, and even if they were true, reliable sources close to the Pine family state that the siblings have a good relationship and a strong bond with each other.
Just like her brother, Katherine keeps details of her private life away from the public eye. In fact, it’s not even known if she is married or not, as she only attends public events in the company of her brother. She has been seen with couple of men on the streets, but it was never confirmed if she was in a romantic relationship with any or all of them. Pine is currently living modestly in New York, City, and is working hard in creating her career away from the limelight.
She is a huge fan of fashion, and can often be seen at many fashion events, including awards ceremonies and fashion weeks. She is often mixed-up with another actress of the same name, Katherine Heigl. The confusion lies in the fact that these two women have very similar facial features.
Pine isn’t active on any social media, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
As an actress, Pine made quite a bit of profit on her own, despite it not being comparable with what her little brother makes. She has also made a pretty penny as a psychotherapist. Reportedly, she has a net worth of around $500,000.
Charming and regarded as gorgeous, she has a light brown hair and brown eyes and is rather tall, standing at 5ft 10ins (1.78m) tall. She weighs around 54kgs (120lbs), and her vital statistics are 34-24-34.
