Who is James Goldstein?

American businessman James F. Goldstein was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA, on 5 January 1940, making Capricorn his zodiac sign. He’s perhaps only known for being a huge fan of National Basketball Association (NBA), as he can often be seen attending live games, usually sitting in courtside seats; James is a huge fan of the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers, and has attended numerous post-game press conferences. Various magazines have written about James’ passion for basketball, including “EPSN the Magazine”, “Detroit Free Press”, and “USA Today”.

The late American lawyer and business executive David Joel Stern once served as the NBA commissioner, and stated that James had invested quite a lot of money in the NBA, perhaps more than any other fan.

Education and early life

James was raised in Milwaukee by his father C. Ellis Goldstein who was a department store owner, and mother Nanette (nee Gamse) who was a housewife; not a lot else has been disclosed about James’ family, including whether or not he has siblings.

He was 10 when he watched his first NBA game, and his since been passionate about the sport. James was only 15 when the Milwaukee Hawks hired him to keep their game statistics, and it was then that he became ‘hooked to professional basketball’.

James studied at Nicolet High School and was on its basketball team; he matriculated in 1958 and then enrolled at Stanford University, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1962; he didn’t play basketball at Stanford, as he wasn’t good enough.

James’ career

James refuses to answer questions related to his wealth, and people can only speculate his net worth, and how was it that he became rich.

It’s widely believed that James is a billionaire, and the magazine “Wall Street Journal” has written that James has perhaps made these billions through real estate in Los Angeles, California. The magazine “The Hollywood Reporter” wrote about James in 2020, claiming that it was through mobile home parks that James became rich, while Carson city’s attorney Sunny Soltani has claimed that James is taking money from the most vulnerable people in society, and that several cities have spent millions to fight him in court, none of which has been proven.

James’ house

James is living in the Sheats Goldstein Residence in Beverly Crest, Los Angeles which was built in 1963, and designed by John Lautner who had been mentored by the late American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, credited with designing over 1,000 structures in 70 years. The house has been written about in various magazines, including “Town & Country”, “Robb Report” and “The New York Times”.

James bought the house from its previous owners in 1972, and hired John Lautner to improve it; Duncan Nicholson began working on the house after John died in 1994, and is still making improvements to it, while James has promised that it will go to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art following his death.

The house can also be seen featured in a number of movies, such as “The Big Lebowski”, “French Exit”, and “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle”.

He’s befriended numerous NBA stars, including Dennis Rodman, Shaquille O’Neal and Wilt Chamberlain.
