Sean Faris, American Actor

It motivated him not to sit and wait for opportunities, but to seek for them. Sean was brought up as a Roman Catholic, but later distanced from his religion, not abandoning it. ‘If you are still attached to your religion, your color, or the country you were born in, then you still don’t know who you really are’, Sean shared his thoughts on his current beliefs.
His father always wanted Sean to join the US Air Force, and Sean even applied for it, but was later rejected due to strong myopia. Even though he listened to his father’s advice, he dreamt of being an actor from when he was around nine years old – when the movie “Top Gun” was released, Sean was 10, and some of his friends remarked how similar he looked to Tom Cruise.
A bit later Sean convinced the whole neighborhood that he was Tom Cruise’s son, and his real father was allegedly his uncle, who had to take care of him while ‘his father Tom Cruise’ had to work in Hollywood. His sister soon gave the game away.
Educational background
The family moved to Ohio, and Sean attended Barbizon Modeling and Acting School, located in Cleveland. While in high school. Sean was interested in playing basketball, soccer and baseball, but when he was 17 years old, he participated in the International Model and Talent Association in 1999. Subsequently when Sean matriculated from his Padua Franciscan High School in 2000, but didn’t enroll at any college or university, as he wanted to pursue an acting career. He moved to Los Angeles, California, and soon started getting job offers for various projects.
Sean never had any regrets on not completing his tertiary education: ‘Because I didn’t go to college <…> it gives me a huge advantage over anyone who did. By the time they get out of school, I’ve already had four years of real world experience. I just feel like I have a major edge over them’, he shared in one of his interviews.
Career
Modelling career
After his studying successfully in Barbizon Modeling and Acting School, he first started working as a model. He was featured on the cover of “Men’s Health US” December issue, which sold 645,000 copies of the issue, the most of the magazine of 2009. He could also be seen in “Cosmopolitan UK”, participating in the charity campaign of raising the awareness of pancreatic cancer.
However, Sean soon understood that he didn’t like the modelling industry at all, as he wanted to accomplish more in his life than just posing in front of the camera, so he quit modelling and focused on acting.
Acting career: first steps
Sean debuted as an actor in 2001, landing the role of Danny’s Gunner in “Pearl Harbor”, starring Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett and Kate Beckinsale. However, Sean’s mind was blown away by the level of the social opportunities when he moved to Los Angeles, and spent all the money he got from this work in two months – he then had to accept his grandmother’s help as he had no other offers during the next six months. At the end of 2001, Sean appeared as Darren in four episodes of MTV’s popular teenagers’ series “Undressed”.
In 2002 he could be seen in “Even Stevens” as Scott Brooks in the episode “Where in the World Is Pookie Stevens?”, and in “Smallville” as Byron Moore in the episode entitled “Nocturne”. Then Sean appeared in the “One Tree Hill” series in 2003, in the “Boston Public” series in 2004, and in “Life as We Know It”, landing the recurring role of Dino Whitman through 2004 and ‘05. From 2005 to 2006, Sean appeared in 13 episodes of the “Reunion” series as Craig Brewster, and landed roles in such movies as “Sleepover” (2004), “Yours, Mine & Ours” (2005) and “Forever Strong” (2008).
Further success and latest works
2008 was a very important year for Sean, as he prepared a lot for his role in “Never Back Down” sports drama. For three months, six days a week, he trained for more than six hours a day, doing a lot of Jiu-Jitsu, Taekwondo, Muay Thai and weight lifting.
‘I put on 15 pounds of lean muscle for the film. And lots of stretching, chiropractors and massage therapists to keep us going’, Sean remembers his filming in the movie. In 2010 Sean landed the role of Ben McKittrick in the super popular series “The Vampire Diaries”, appearing in three episodes of the show. In 2011 he could be seen in such TV films as “The Wyoming Story”, “The King of Fighters” and “The Lost Valentine”; the same year he also gave voice to Jack Rourke in the video game “Need for Speed: The Run”. In 2014 Sean appeared in one of the episodes of the “Supernatural” series, landing the role of Julian Duval. He later filmed in “Pretty Little Liars” series, and in such movies as “Sandra Brown’s White Hot” (2016), “Female Fight Club” (2016) and “The Joneses Unplugged” (2018).

He personally also was nominated for 2007 for a Young Hollywood Award in the category “The One to Watch”, and for the 2008 MTV Movie Award in the category “Best Fight” for his work in “Never Back Down”, winning both awards.

Cherie has a younger brother named Dylan. Born on 23 June 1987, in New York USA, she could be seen in such series as “Banshee” from 2005 to 2006, portraying the characters of Jill Francis and Lena Bella, and “NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service” (2019). In 2020 she filmed in the short movie “Natural Management”, in the drama entitled “Breaking Tradition”, and in the new drama series “Nova Vita”, landing the role of Anna. Sean and Cherie travel a lot together around the world, enjoying their life journey.

1 | [on Mixed Martial Arts as depicted in Never Back Down (2008)] I actually get a little upset when people say that it's not a sport. It's the evolution of karate, kung fu, ju jitsu, judo, muay-thai - all these sports in their singular form, coming together. Most of these are Olympic sports. |
2 | [about his personal style] Comfort. If it's comfortable and it looks decent, I'll wear it. There's no in-between for me. Either I want to be rocking in an Armani suit, or I want to be in jeans and a T-shirt. I wouldn't want to be in khakis and a button-down. That's just not me. |
3 | [favorite designer to wear on the red carpet] On the red carpet, Armani. I love Armani. I actually just went to his fashion show in Milan. |
4 | I got a role in Pearl Harbor (2001) within a week of getting to L.A. My head swelled. I spent all my money in two months and then didn't work for another six. Luckily, Grandma hooked a brother up. |

6 | I hope people remember me for the kind of person that I am, not because of what I do. |
7 | I don't want a girl who's high-maintenance and wants to go shopping... I like a girl who doesn't wear make-up and is naturally beautiful. |
8 | Because I didn't go to college, and because I spent my college time out in LA, it gives me a huge advantage over anyone who went to college... By the time they get out of school, I've already had four years of real world experience. I just feel like I have a major edge over them. |
9 | I hate the polo collar. |
10 | Once I got into modeling, I realized how much I really hated the industry... A lot of people that model tend to think they're God's gift, but I was like 'Great, you can model, but what have you done to accomplish anything in your life?' I wanted a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. |
11 | For two weeks, I had the entire neighborhood believing I was Tom Cruise's son - until my step-sister spilled the beans on me. |
12 | I hate junk food. It depresses me. |
13 | "High school is high school, but it's not until you get out of high school that you realize that it's just a stepping stone in life. Nothing is easy about high school. I didn't know where I fit. There are so many cliques of people who are popular and who are not. You get too caught up trying to figure out where you fit in the whole scheme of things, but really, it truly doesn't matter. All that matters is that you have your friends who are your friends -- period." Interview with Tim Lammers, July 2004. |
