Who is Ritchie Coster?
Ritchie Coster was born in London, England on 1 July 1967 – his zodiac sign is Cancer and he holds British nationality. He is an actor, who is perhaps still best known for his portrayal of Dietrich Banning in the action comedy science fiction movie “The Tuxedo”, which also starred Jackie Chan, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jason Isaacs, and which follows a chauffeur who becomes a secret agent and receives a special high-tech tuxedo – the movie won two awards and was nominated for one other.
Early life, family and education
Ritchie was raised in London alongside his three older brothers by their father, who worked in the real estate industry, and their mother who was a cashier at a local supermarket – Ritchie is the only member of the family who became an actor.
He studied at the Latymer School in Edmonton, North London at which he became interested in acting, and started appearing in school plays – he decided to focus on acting, and upon matriculation in 1986, enrolled at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre in 1989. He spent the following eight years appearing in theatre plays, before being given a chance to show his skills on the screens.

He made his debut TV series appearance in 1997, when he guest starred in the episode “Hell’s Kitchen” of the crime drama “Dellaventura”, and the following years saw him appear in single episodes of many series, such as the crime drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” in 1999, the romantic comedy drama “Sex and the City” in 2000, and the soap opera “As the World Turns”. Ritchie gained recognition in 2004 when he was invited to play Fazal, one of the lead characters in the crime thriller mini-series “Traffic”, which also starred Nelson Lee and Tony Musante and is about the smuggling of weapons, drugs and even people. “Traffic” was a success, winning one award and becoming nominated for 13 others including three Primetime Emmys.
In 2005, he played a supporting character in the action crime drama “Jonny Zero”, and then went on to appear in the episode “Sorry, Wrong Number” of the crime drama “Kidnapped” in 2006, the episode “Join or Die” of the mini-series “John Adams” in 2008, and the episode “Ghosts” of the science fiction crime drama “Person of Interest” in 2011.
The year 2012 saw Ritchie star as Renzo in the sports drama “Luck”, also starring Dustin Hoffman, Dennis Farina and John Ortiz, and which is about the lives of several people who enjoy betting on horses. In 2015, Ritchie guest starred as Mayor Austin Cheesani in seven episodes of the anthology crime drama “True Detective”, and two years later, he portrayed Donald Thayer in three episodes of the drama “Billions”.
His most recent as well as one of his most notable performances in TV series, has been in the live-action/animated black comedy “Happy!”, in which he starred as Francisco ‘Mr. Blue’ Scaramucci alongside Christopher Meloni and Lili Mirojnick, and which follows an injured hitman who befriends an imaginary flying unicorn – the series aired from 2017 to 2019.

Ritchie made his debut film appearance in 1999, when cast to play Janos in the romantic thriller movie “The Thomas Crown Affair”, which starred Pierce Brosnan, Rene Russo and Denis Leary, and follows a rich and powerful man who likes to steal art from galleries, and who is now being investigated by an attractive female detective.
The year 2000 saw him play supporting characters in both the comedy “The Photographer” and the American-Canadian action comedy “Bait”, and in the following year he appeared in the crime action thriller movie “15 Minutes”, both written and directed by John Herzfeld, which starred Robert De Niro and Edward Burns, and is about a homicide detective and his colleague who are trying to catch two killers who videotape their crimes. In 2002, Ritchie appeared in the John C. Walsh’s romantic comedy “Pipe Dream”, and was then cast in the political action thriller “The Sentinel” in 2006, the critically acclaimed biographical crime movie “American Gangster” in 2007, and in 2008 the superhero film “The Dark Knight”, which starred Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger.
In 2010 he played the supporting character Ray in the action comedy “The Bounty Hunter”, which starred Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston, and is about a bounty hunter who is hired to bring his ex-wife to justice.
In 2014 Ritchie appeared in his first short film “Rose”, and three of his most recent roles in movies have been in the mystery drama “Submission” in 2017, the crime mystery drama “The Bygone” and the horror mystery “Jacob’s Ladder” both in 2019.
Ritchie has also voiced characters in video games – Blog in the racing game “Midnight Club II” in 2003, and Bill McDonagh in the first-person shooter game “BioShock” in 2007.
Wife and children
Ritchie prefers to keep his personal matters to himself, so not a lot is known about his other half, Jan Coster.
There are rumors circulating the internet that the two met while attending college, and that they married not long after they both obtained their degrees – it is widely believed that they have been together for three decades. The two have agreed not to have children, as they both want to focus on their careers.
Ritchie hasn’t talked about any other women he might have dated before he met Jan, and it’s believed by many that she is his first love. As of September 2020, he is married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
Ritchie’s main hobby is travelling – his acting career has taken him all around Europe, and a few of his favorite places to visit are Rome in Italy, Barcelona in Spain and Paris in France. He has also been to many US states for both work and pleasure.
In his spare time, he likes to listen to jazz and blues music, and two of his favorite performers are Frank and Nancy Sinatra. Ritchie likes to play chess and checkers and is also said to be very good at golf.
He has his own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are the late Robin Williams, Will Smith and Emma Watson, and a few of his favorite movies include “Patch Adams”, “I, Robot” and “Sleepless in Seattle”.
Ritchie’s age is 53. He has short brown hair and brown eyes, his height is 6ft 1in (1.85m) and he weighs around 165lbs (75kgs).
