Early Life and Career Beginnings

Jessica Parker is of African, Italian and Russian descent. Growing up in Canada, she discovered a passion for the performing arts at a young age, leading her to start training in singing. She developed her skills through the years, and this opened the door for her to appear in a few local productions.

Her first professional project was the television movie “Santa Baby”, in which she portrayed Lucy the Elf. The movie starred Jenny McCarthy and was released through ABC, though it was filmed in her hometown of Calgary. Wanting to make it big in Hollywood, as soon as she completed her education, she moved to the US to begin auditioning.

The following year she was cast in a recurring role in the series “Kaya” which aired on MTV, and is a Canadian and American co-production, following the lives of the titular character and her band who become rock stars overnight.
