Luner’s maternal grandmother was Shirley Rosen, the actress known for “If You Don’t Stop It… You’ll Go Blind”.

When Luner was just four years old, she made her acting debut in a TV commercial for a brand of tissues – her mother was played by Suzanne Somers. In 1988 she won a local Shakespeare competition in the category of monologues, which proved her talent as a young aspiring actress. She matriculated from Beverly Hills High School in 1989, and then studied acting at the Professional Children’s School in New York City. She loved playing soccer as a kid, but stopped playing after she fell and hit her head.

In 1990, she went to the Epicurean Cooking School in Los Angeles, and worked as a cook in a French restaurant for a few years.

Career

When Luner was 14, she landed a role in the TV family series “Growing Pains” in 1985, and two years later appeared in its spin-off, “Just the Ten of Us”, and remained in both shows until 1990. That same year she made a guest appearance in an episode of the first season of the show “ABC TGIF”.

In 1992, she had a guest role in the TV series’ “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventures” and “Married… With Children”.

That same year she appeared in “The St. Tammany Miracle”, as well as in several TV movies and series such as “Rebel Highway”, “Confessions of Sorority Girls” and “Diagnosis Murder”.

In 1996 she was cast as Peyton Richards in the TV drama series “Savannah”, but the show was canceled in 1997, after which she joined the cast of the TV romantic series “Melrose Place”, portraying Lexi Sterling and remaining in the show until it ended in 1999.

In 1999 Luner was cast in NBC TV series, “Profiler” as Rachel Burke, for the show’s final two seasons. Personal Life

Luner started a relationship with her personal trainer, John Braz, in 1995, however, their relationship ended in 1999. Not much is known about her other romantic interests and she hasn’t been seen in public with any single man.

Her first manager was her mother, Susan Luner.

Luner is a supporter of several charitable organizations – most notably, the Pediatric AIDS charity. She also supports Project Angel Food, Music for our Seniors, and Feed America.

She co-hosted the 24th International Emmy Awards, with Kenny Rogers and Dick Cavett.

Luner appeared on the cover of the October 1997 issue of “Details” magazine, together with actresses such as Alyssa Milano, Carmen Electra, Melissa Joan Hart and Jeri Ryan.

Her portrayal of a psychic in “Profiler” was so believable that she received a lot of letters from her fans asking her to help them with her ‘powers’.

Her brother is an owner of several ceramic stores all around the Los Angeles area.

The Lawsuit

Luner made headlines in February 2018 when she was accused of drugging a 16-year-old boy, Anthony Oliver, and recording a sexual act between them back in 1998. The reports state that she gave the boy methamphetamines and whiskey, before raping him and videotaping the encounter.

The lawsuit was dismissed on 6th August 2018 based on the statute of limitations, as Oliver filed the lawsuit 20 years after the act, when there was no more any legal basis. Luner’s team of lawyers claimed that the report was false, and that Oliver was attempting extortion, pointing the fact that he already had a history of dropped lawsuits. The appeal was filed on 2nd February 2019 and it was claimed that, in the previous decade, Oliver has filed no less than 27 federal lawsuits against various celebrities. Oliver, who was once even a mayoral candidate for a city in Georgia, US, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in October 2019.
