Mageina was raised as a single child in Nashville, Tennessee, by her mother who worked for the US Army as a physical therapist, and her father who was also serving in the US Army as a psychiatrist. She grew up wanting to join the Army just as her parents, but upon enrolling at Martin Luther King Junior Magnet High School, she became interested in acting, and began practicing her skills at the school’s drama club. She was ahead of her class, and managed to skip an entire year of high school so matriculating when she was 16, and enrolling at The California Institute of the Arts, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre in 2000.
Roles in movies
Mageina made her debut film appearance in 2001, portraying a young girl in “Virus Man”, and then went on to appear in “Dine & Shine” and “Reflections of Evil” in 2002. The year 2003 saw her portray Louise in “The Pool at Maddy Breaker’s” and the Maid in the short movie “Hope Abandoned”, while she finally gained recognition after playing Ursula Ditkovich in the critically acclaimed superhero film “Spider-Man 2” in 2004.
