Lara was raised with two older sisters, Cindy and Sharon, in Allentown by their father who was the owner of a factory which produces pajamas, and their mother who was a housewife.
Lara grew up being interested in acting, and appeared in many school plays organized at her elementary school, however, after enrolling at William Allen High School and after being talked into it by her parents, she became interested in law, and upon matriculation enrolled at New York University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1989.
