Who is Cam Newton?

Cameron Jerrell Newton was born in Atlanta, Georgia USA, on 11 May 1989 – his zodiac sign is Taurus, and he holds American nationality. He is an American Football quarterback now playing for the New England Patriots competing in the National Football League (NFL), while he spent nine years prior to that playing for the Carolina Panthers.

Early life and education

Cam was raised alongside his two younger brothers Cecil and Caylin, both Football players, by their father Cecil Newton Sr. who played for the football teams the Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills in 1983 and 1984, respectively, and their mother Jackie who was a housewife.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBbZ-06BrIF/

Cam became interested in both baseball and basketball at a very early age but couldn’t play baseball because he was afraid of being hit by a pitch. He was 14 when he gave up on baseball, and as he started playing football, he eventually gave up on basketball as well. He studied at Westlake High School and played for their football team, and upon matriculation in 2007, he was offered football scholarships from numerous colleges including Mississippi State, Virginia Tech and Maryland. He eventually chose the University of Florida, and started playing for their football team.

On 21 November 2008, Cam was arrested for stealing a laptop from a fellow student, and was thus suspended from his team which led him to move to Blinn College in January 2009, then in 2010 to Auburn University to play for their Auburn Tigers. In 2011 he announced that he was entering the NFL draft, deciding not to attend his final year of college, however, he would later obtain his college degree in 2015.

Career as a Football Player and injuries

Cam was the first overall pick in the draft, being selected by the Carolina Panthers and signing a four-year contract worth $22 million.

He showed amazing skills while playing for the Panthers and soon became one of the most wanted football players in the USA. However, problems started for Cam in 2014 when he had to undergo ankle ligament surgery and spend four months recovering – not long after he came back to football, he suffered another injury after Jamie Collins fractured his ribs. In December 2014, he was in a car crash and fractured his back at two places.

Regardless, on 2 June 2015, Cam renewed his contract with the Panthers, and this time signed for five years and $103.8 million, but his bad luck continued – he suffer a concussion on 2 October 2016 during a game against the Atlanta Falcons and had to miss the second half of the game as well as the next match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He underwent more surgery in March 2017 to fix his partially-torn rotator cuff, which influenced his 2018 season as he played poorly, and the Panthers lost six games in a row. Cam decided to undergo further shoulder surgery on 25 January 2019, and after coming back to play, suffered a Lisfranc fracture of his foot.

On 8 July 2020, he signed a one-year contract with the New England Patriots which secured him $1.05 million and up to $6 million in bonuses, however, he tested positive for coronavirus on 3 October, and was placed in reserve.

Love life and wife

In 2013, Cam started dating American stripper Kia Proctor, and she gave birth to their first son in December 2015. In February 2017, the couple welcomed their daughter, while their second son followed in July 2018. The couple’s fourth child was born by the end of 2019, however, months before that, an Instagram model gave birth to her and Cam’s son, which proved that he was having an affair.

Not long after Kia gave birth to their fourth child, she and Cam split because of his unfaithfulness. It is believed by many that Kia was Cam’s wife, that they married in secret and later divorced, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

Cam has dated several other women. In 2011, he was in a relationship with Angela Simmons, an American shoe designer and a social media personality, but they were together for only a couple of months before he began dating famous American singer Ciara. In 2017, he had an affair with Rubi Rose, a model and an Instagram star.

As of November 2020, Cam is single, hasn’t married and has five children.

Hobbies and other interests

Cam is physically very active, and has five to six training sessions at the gym each week, as it’s crucial for his career to stay fit. However, he was a pescatarian in the past, and became vegan in March 2019 which has had its impact on his recovery from injuries, as according to the doctors, this regimen has significantly slowed it down.

He is very religious, and is a devoted Christian who goes to church at least once a week, and after winning one of his games in 2011, Cam went on to state: ‘It’s just a God thing. I thank God every single day. I’m just His instrument and He’s using me on a consistent basis daily.’

He is interested in designing clothes, and is the owner of his own clothing line called MADE. He also has another business, having opened his restaurant and cigar bar in Atlanta in May 2019.

He is a motivational speaker, and is running his own charity foundation.

Age, height and net worth

Cam’s age is 31. He has short brown hair and brown eyes, his height is 6ft 5ins (1.96m) and he weighs around 245lbs (111kgs).
