Childhood and education

Jason was raised an only child in Sacramento by his father who was a football coach at a local high school, and his mother who was teaching English at the same school. Jason became interested in football while attending Mount Shasta High School in California, and upon matriculation in 1989 he enrolled at Shasta College where he played for their football team for two years before moving to the University of Southern California.

He was one of the best players there playing a wide receiver, and upon graduation in 1993 launched his professional career when he was chosen to play for the New York Giants in the National Football League (NFL) as their cornerback.

Career as a football player and other ventures

He played for the New York Giants for most of his career, but in 1998 he suffered a knee injury, and spent the rest of the season on the bench, and although he started playing again in 1999, he wasn’t as fast as he used to be prior to the injury. He continued playing for the Giants for the next four years before signing with the St. Louis Rams on 7 March 2003 to play as their safety.

He only played 10 out of 16 games because of a broken foot, and then failed a physical examination in 2004 which led to the termination of his contract with the Rams.

Jason also played baseball, and shortly after he began attending college, he played for the Chicago Cubs competing in the Huntington Cubs rookie league. He has also a done a bit of acting, as he portrayed a firefighter in a single episode of the crime drama series “Third Watch” – by the end of the episode, his character had died in a warehouse fire. He became a sports panelist at Fox Sports Net in 2005, and since 2011 has been working as a football analyst for the ESPNU network.

He is currently working at Hendrick Automotive Group as their Director of Communications.
