Brian Shaw Wiki Bio
Brian Shaw was born in Fort Lupton, Colorado USA, on 26 February 1982 – his zodiac sign is Pisces and he holds American nationality. He is a professional strongman, perhaps known best for winning the World’s Strongest Man competition four times: in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016.
What does ‘strongman’ mean?
The word was used in the 19th century for the first time and it referred to circus performers who could perform random ‘feats of strength’, including lifting, pushing or pulling extremely heavy objects – today, it stands for those competing in strength athletics.
Childhood and education
Brian was raised alongside his sister Juli by their father Jay and mother Bonnie Shaw – both Brian’s parents were quite tall while his uncles are said to have had ‘exceptional stature’.
Brian attended Fort Lupton High School, at which he was interested in basketball and played for the school’s team. Upon matriculating in 2000, he enrolled at Otero Junior College located in La Junta in Colorado, at which he excelled at basketball, and was thus invited to move to Black Hills State University on a basketball scholarship – he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in wellness management in 2004.
While attending college, Brian spent most of his spare time at the gym lifting weights, which is how he eventually became interested in becoming a strongman.
Career as a strongman
He officially became a strongman in October 2005, after entering the Denver Strongest Man competition without any formal training – seven months later, Brian became a professional strongman, and started attracting attention in the field.
It was in 2009 that he entered the now-defunct event Fortissimus, in which many men competed to win the title of ‘The Strongest Man on Earth’ – that year the event was held in Canada, and Brian finished third, while he was the only one capable of lifting all six Atlas stones which weighed between 300 and 425lbs (136 to 193kgs).
Later that year, he travelled to Romania in Europe and entered the World Strongman Super Series, and then entered the World’s Strongest Man competition, organized in Valleta, Malta in September 2009.
Brian reached the finals of the World’s Strongest Man in September 2010 and lost by countback after a tie with Lithuanian powerlifter and strongman Zydrunas Savickas, – he lost to Zydrunas again at the Giants Live Istanbul competition a month later. In November, Brian won the Jon Pall Sigmarsson Classic strongman competition, and then on 18 December won the Strongman Super series Swedish Grand Prix.
He finally beat Zyndrunas in 2011, at World’s Strongest Man and then beat him again two years later as well as in 2015 and 2016.
The year 2017 saw him win the Arnold Strongman Classic and finish 3rd at World’s Strongest Man. In March 2018, he entered the Arnold Strongman Classic, and finished 2nd, 3.5 points behind Hafthor Bjornsson. In October of the same year, Brian entered the World’s Ultimate Strongman held in Dubai, The United Arab Emirates and lost to Hafthor again.
Brian is a bit of a TV personality, having been featured in the biographical series “The Strongest Man in History”, which aired on the History Channel in 2019.
Brian is also a YouTuber, launching his channel “SHAWSTRENGTH” on 30 April 2008, while today its subscribed to by close to 1.5 million people, and numbers almost 210 million views of all his videos combined. As the channel’s description section reads, it’s ‘dedicated to entertaining viewers with world-class feats of strength, while humbly teaching others to become stronger in body and mind, so that they can achieve whatever they believe in.’
Love life and wife
Brian is quite secretive when it comes to his love life, but it’s widely known that he’s a married man.
He met his future other half, Keri Jenkins sometime in the early 2010s but neither of the two has disclosed details of how and when they met. They married in a private ceremony attended by their closest friends and family in July 2015, and on 15 June 2016 welcomed their son Braxton Joe, while second son Kellen followed – the date of his birth hasn’t been revealed.
Keri is also interested in working out, and is today a fitness expert who is running her own blog – “Fit Mommy Academy”.
Brian hasn’t talked about any other women he might have dated before meeting Keri, so as of December 2020, he is married and has two children.
Hobbies and other interests
Brian spends most of his spare time with his family, and has uploaded numerous pictures featuring his wife and sons onto his Instagram account.
He prefers to spend time in nature rather than in overcrowded cities, and has a big property with wide fields at which he usually relaxes with his family.
He is keen on travelling, and his career as a strongman has taken him all around the US as well as to several European countries, such as France, England and Germany.
Brian is keen on watching movies with his wife late at night, and a couple of his favorite actors are Vin Diesel, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, while his favorite movies include “Pitch Black”, “The Terminator” and “Jumanji”.
How rich is he and what is his weight?
Brian’s age is 38. He is bald and has brown eyes, his height is 6ft 8ins (2.03m) while his weight is between 420 and 440lbs (190 and 200kgs) depending on whether or not he’s competing.
