He became interested in doing stand-up comedy at the age of eight, and often performed for his mother and grandmother. He was actually just 10 years old when he first performed, in the daytime variety program “The Rosie O’Donnell Show”, and was then invited to appear in the series “The Amanda Show”. Josh went on to practice at TADA! Youth Theatre, and perform at Carolines on Broadway.
Roles in movies
Josh has been credited with appearing in around 75 movies and TV series, and we are about to mention some of his most notable performances in this article.
One of his first roles in movies was in the 2000 comedy “Snow Day”, in which he played the supporting character Wayne Alworth. The following years saw him appear in the 2001 comedy “Max Keeble’s Big Move”, the 2002 black comedy crime film “Spun”, and the 2004 psychological drama “Mean Creek”. In 2006, he voiced Eddie in the animated adventure comedy “Ice Age: The Meltdown”, and reprised his role in “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” in 2009 and “Ice Age: Continental Drift” in 2012 – the same year saw him star alongside Chris Hemsworth in the action movie “Red Dawn”. Roles in TV series
He made his debut TV series appearance in 2000, when he appeared in the episode “The Cast from Snow Day/Hoku” of the comedy sketch “All That”, and then appeared in single episodes of many series such as the medical drama “ER”, the sketch comedy “Mad TV” and the drama “The Guardian”.
He gained recognition in 2004 when cast to play Josh Nichols, one of the lead characters in the sitcom “Drake & Josh” created by Dan Schneider, and which also starred Drake Bell and Miranda Cosgrove – it follows two step brother,s one of whom is a popular singer while the other is a geek, and it won 11 awards while it was nominated for five others. The years 2009 and 2012 heard him voice Eddie in the video game “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” and the mobile game “Ice Age: Continental Drift – Arctic Games” respectively and in 2014 Josh voice Casey Jones in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze”.

Wife and baby
Josh married Paige O’Brien in June 2017 after the two dated for over five years, and what the media found interesting was that Josh didn’t invite Drake Bell to the wedding for unknown reasons – Paige is a film editor and cinematographer who might be known best for having worked on the movies “Black Wolf”, “Let Go” and “Tell Me a Story”.
Before Paige, Josh dated non-celebrity Kelly Louie from 2005 to mid-2006, and the following year saw him date Famke Janssen, a Dutch actress and film director known for her roles in the spy movie “GoldenEye”, and the superhero movie franchise “X-Men”. In 2009, he dated Hanna Beth Merjos, an American actress and model.
As of November 2020, Josh is married to Paige O’Brien, and they have a son together named Max, born in December 2018.
Weight loss
Josh was a chubby teen, then after gaining recognition for his acting skills, he decided he would become healthy and fit and serve as an example for all those who watched him on TV. His family helped him hire a nutritionist and a physical trainer, and Josh started off by taking long walks before he began running and working out at a gym. His nutritionist helped him choose a diet plan which would suit him – the hardest thing for Josh was to avoid eating sugar, but he managed to stick to the plan and lose weight.
Hobbies and other interests
Josh’s main hobby is being active on social media networks, and he’s very popular on Instagram as his account numbers more than 10.4 million followers, while he’s uploaded more than 1,600 pictures onto it.
He is physically very active, as he still has several training sessions at the gym each week, while he is also a martial artist who has been taking Taekwondo lessons since his teenage years – as an extension of that, he’s also been practicing mixed martial arts (MMA) for several years now.
Josh is keen on watching movies, and has his own favorite actors and actresses some of whom are Ben Kingsley, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts – he has stated how he believes that nobody is as good at acting as Ben. A few of his favorite movies are “Gandhi”, “Schindler’s List” and “Shutter Island”.
