In 1982 Hoda matriculated from Fort Hunt High School – she was chosen to speak at her matriculating class’s baccalaureate, and was elected homecoming queen. She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta women’s sorority, Beta Ny Chapter in college, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism. She has been nominated for and won a number of awards, such as the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story in a News Magazine in 2010.

Career

Joel worked his way up and eventually became the senior vice president of the investment banking company, Kidder Peabody, even though he did not have any form of certification. He then returned to his home to Denver to be the consulting group director of Smith Barney. He remained in the company for nine years, then became the principal director of marketing at Trail Ridge Capital.

He served as the senior vice president of business development and client services at Reed, Conner & Birdwell upon his return to Los Angeles in 2005. He has also worked as the senior relationship manager of New York-based Columbia Management National Accounts. In early 2019, the Schroder Investment Management in New York expanded and reorganized, and hired Joel as the Head of the US Defined Contribution and Insurance Sales. From that position, he was eventually promoted to the director and vice president of Janus Capital Group. He has said that his job requires him to develop, build and maintain strong, professional relationships with key insurance partners, which ‘includes developing and implementing investment and sales strategies designed to assist our partners in achieving their sales goals and investors their retirement goals.’ Overall, his job requires a lot of the public’s trust, which could be a contributing factor as to why he keeps his personal life private.

Personal life

From a relationship before Hoda, he had a daughter, Kyle Schiffman who was born in 1994, in Denver – she currently lives in San Jose, California and studies at the Santa Clara University School of Law. Joel keeps his personal life private, so the identity of Kyle’s mother is not known. Kyle is reportedly supportive of her father’s relationship with Hoda, and has even visited the set of the “Today” show and pleasantly shared her experience on her social media.

Joel began dating Hoda in 2013, but kept their relationship a secret from the public for the first few years. Hoda would speak about him on “Today,” but gave him the alias ‘Boots.’ On 20 January 2015, British media company the “Daily Mail” published photographs of the pair on vacation, considered their first appearance together as a couple, and after which Hoda confirmed their relationship. At the time, Billy Bush was standing-in for Hoda as co-host on the “Today” show, and interviewed Hoda after the photo’s release.

He spoke about how she had protected her relationship from the public for two years, but they were eventually caught by the British press while on a private vacation on a beach. Hoda said that it felt strange, yet relieving that after two years of avoiding saying his name on camera and only referring to him as ‘Boots’ ‘…because we just showed his shoes [on the show]…’ their relationship was finally open to the public. She continued, ‘Joel is out from the shadows! I feel some relief. I talked to him this morning, and he said, “Who cares? Who cares!”[what people think].’ When their relationship became more serious, Hoda planned a double-date with Kathie Lee Gifford and her late husband and former sports commentator and football player, Frank Gifford. On “Watch What Happens Live,” Hoda spoke about the double-date with her “Today” co-host: ‘Look, he loved [Kathie-Lee]. He met Frank — he was enamored.

I mean, come on, he was on bended knee.’ On her SiriusXM series, “The Hoda Show,” in October 2016, she announced that she was moving in with Joel, ‘[We] are getting an apartment together, so we went to see it with the measuring tape.’ She added that it felt weird to be in her 50s and announce she was moving in with her boyfriend, that it felt as if they were children again.

In February 2017, she announced on the “Today” show that they’d adopted a baby girl, Hayley Joy Kotb, due to her inability to conceive following her 2007 cancer treatment, and age. Hayley was born on Valentine’s Day that same year. They gave her the middle name, ‘Joy’ because of the happiness she brings to Joel and Hoda. She insisted that even though Joel’s surname was not given to Hayley, he is still her father and she would call him ‘dad.’

In an interview with People magazine, she stated that Joel and herself worked through a New York adoption agency, and were advised that leaving Joel’s surname out of the paperwork would help simplify the process. In September 2018, Hoda appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” with host Andy Cohen, and shared that she met Joel at an event she didn’t actually want to attend. Despite her reluctance, she had to make an appearance because it was organized by Tyler Mathisen, the husband of the executive producer of the “Today” show, LaMarca Mathisen. Hoda recalled the night saying that it was raining and she had to give a speech, but everybody was bored; nevertheless, the crowd was not her style as they were mostly Wall Street men. After her speech, she was scheduled to sign autographs; it was at the signing that she met the ‘Jewish gentleman.’

Joel caught Hoda’s attention when he joked with her about the signing, and she responded by saying that virtually nobody was queueing up. He gave her something to sign, and when she asked who she must dedicate it to, he jokingly responded, ‘How about to me?’ Following the event, Hoda asked the event organizers about Joel and whether or not he was single. Hearing about her interest in him, Joel asked her out on a date via email. In her interview with Andy Cohen, he asked whether or not she planned to marry Joel. Hoda responded by saying that, ‘I’m going to be with Joel until my last breath – I know that.’ Through a live phone call in April 2019, she announced the adoption of their second daughter, Hope Catherine Kotb. Hoda told Entertainment Tonight, ‘We like the idea of Haley [having] a sibling because she has had such interesting circumstances to grow up. So it would be nice to be able to share it with somebody.’

In June 2019, Hoda posted an Instagram photo with Joel in celebration of their 6-year anniversary, thanking LaMarca Mathisen and Tyler Mathisen for forcing her to go to the event where she met Joel. On 25 November 2019, Hoda told her co-stars that Joel proposed to her during dinner on a beach, while on vacation in Mexico. On “Today,” she shared the special moment, ‘And he was like, ‘I have something else I would like to say,’ and he said some beautiful things, and then he got down on one knee. Then he said, ‘Would you be my wife?’ Hayley and Hope will be part of their wedding. Hoda told Hayley, ‘Mommy and Daddy love each other, so we’re having a party. She’s gonna be in it. And Hope, too.’

Joel has grey hair and dark brown eyes. He is 5ft 9in (1.75m) tall and weighs 180lbs (82kgs).

His wife came to fame for her work in the television series “Blue Bloods”, though she has also appeared in various high profile films during her career.

The Riches of Andrew Frankel

As of early-2020, Andrew Frankel’s net worth is estimated to be over $70 million, earned through a successful career in the stock market, as he’s an important part of one of the oldest stock brokerages in the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

His successful wife has a net worth estimated to be over $25 million.

Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings

At a young age, Andrew became very aware of the world of business and the stock market, mostly thanks to his father who spent most of his time as a stockbroker. His father founded Stuart Frankel & Co, a company that his son would also later become involved with. His father had success through numerous investments, and wanted Andrew to follow a similar path.

He attended the University of Pennsylvania where he studied for a degree in Economics.

The university is one of the oldest in the US, being one of the original nine colonial colleges founded even before the US Declaration of Independence. It has numerous high profile alumni, including US President, Donald Trump. During this time, he wanted to explore more about his other interests instead of heading straight to his father’s business, and became interested in animation, partnering with his cousin for the film adaptation of “Alien Space Avenger”.

Path Towards Stocks

Frankel was very interested in the entertainment industry, especially behind the scenes in graphic design and animation.

Following his graduation, he first worked for the advertising agency Demain Vickers as an assistant, then after a short stint there, he moved to UTV13 News Digest where he began working as a writer, editor, camera operator, and newscaster. While he enjoyed the work, he wanted to do something that lined up more with his previous collaboration with his cousin.

He eventually got a job with Hasbro Toy Group, and stayed there briefly before making his way deeper into the entertainment industry as a member of the animating team of several popular films. He worked on projects such as “Jurassic Park”, “Transformers’, and “GI Joe”, also  venturing into acting, appearing in “Godzilla”.

However, he later realized that he wasn’t on track to make it big, so he returned to his father, becoming a part of the company’s research team, and corporate relations. He flourished within Stuart Frankel thanks to the direction of his father, and also became a capable investor.

Wife – Bridget Moynahan

Bridget grew up in New York – her parents are of Irish American descent. Her father worked as a scientist while her mother was a school teacher, though she had already retired. Bridget grew up alongside two brothers, and their family later settled in Longmeadow, Massachusetts where she would attend high school.

At school she showed a lot of interest in athletics, and became the captain of Longmeadow High School’s lacrosse and soccer teams.

After matriculating from high school, she became interested in modeling, despite having been labeled a tomboy in school. She joined her friend in one audition and was successful, becoming a part of several advertisements within catalogs in Springfield, Massachusetts. At the time, she was already continuing her education at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, but left to take advantage of opportunities to work in the New York fashion industry.

She started gaining features in popular magazines such as “Glamour”, “Elle”, and “Vogue”, however, she knew that this wasn’t going to be a job that would last forever, so she started developing her skills in acting. Some of her earliest work was in shampoo and soap commercials, then made her television show debut in a recurring role in “Sex and the City”.

The Success of Bridget Moynahan

Moynahan eventually became known for her work in the television series “Blue Bloods”, in which she plays the role of Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan. She has been with the show since the start, and it’s been running for 10 seasons with no sign of stopping any time soon.

It follows the story of a family living in New York City, with most of its members involved in law enforcement. Before her work in the show, she was the star of the series “Six Degrees”, but which was short-lived due to low ratings

While “Blue Bloods” has been her main focus on television, she’s done a lot of film work over the years. One of her latest projects is the “John Wick” franchise which began in 2014 starring Keanu Reeves. It follows the story of the titular character, a retired assassin who is forced back to work and his life of killing – the film franchise has been called some of Reeves’ best work. Other projects she’s been a part of include “The Sum of All Fears”, “I, Robot”, and “The Journey Home”.

Dave Turin (Gold Rush) Net Worth, Wife, Black Eye. Quits?

Published

on

Mining gold is not always the quest of a lone wolf on a mission – in some cases it is a legacy and a family business. Dave Turin is a civil engineer and businessman who comes from a family of successful gold miners, and it wasn’t always clear that Dave would pursue this career as he was a football star during his college days. Dave first rose to fame when he was regularly consulted by the Hoffman family crew during the first season of “Gold Rush”, a Discovery Channel show following the ups and downs of gold mining.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BxDjytWDXWv/

Early Life and Family

Dave Turin was born on 21 April 1959, in Sandy, Oregon USA to Jim Turin – the name of his mother is unknown. Dave is one of six children – three brothers and two sisters – who are mostly involved in the family business. Dave loved the outdoors as a child, and developed hunting and fishing skills. During high school, Dave was not only a good pupil but a star athlete on the football field. This is not necessarily surprising, as his father, Jim was a local teacher and sports coach. Dave continued his football career during college, and even played on the Oregon State team for a time before realizing that his dreams lay elsewhere.

Education

While Dave is considered the most knowledgeable miner on the Hoffman crew, he learned most of his skills at the family quarry. Dave Turin attended Sandy Union High School, and riding on the success of his high school career including playing football, he studied attended both Ohio State University then Portland State University, from where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering.

Career

Family Business

Dave Turin joined his family quarry business immediately after graduating from college. The business had been established in 1969, when the family assisted a local in acquiring stone to pave a driveway.

Originally call Jim Turin & Sons, the company was renamed Mt. Hood Rock Products in 1988, and Dave has been the vice president and co-owner of the company since its inception. Although he mainly focuses on his own work, he remains affiliated with the company and his brothers who run the business.

Discovery Channel

 “Gold Rush”

Discovery Channel got wind of the gold fever in 2010, and began filming a series that would follow fledgling mining crews as they ventured out into the world of gold mining. The show premiered on 3 December 2010, and has since evolved into following the activities of experienced crews and their risk-taking exploits.

In the first season, the show focused predominantly on Todd Hoffman and his motley crew. Hoffman knew that he was lacking in experience, and so consulted his friend Dave Turin, who appeared as a consultant regularly throughout the first season, and when Todd offered him a permanent position on the team, he jumped at the opportunity.

Dave Turin aced as the source of wisdom and experience on the crew, playing an integral role in the success of the Dakota Boys, and earned the moniker ‘Dozer Dave’ for his prowess with the bulldozer. After a disastrous mining operation in Guyana prior to the fourth season, Dave switched alliances and began to work with Freddy and Derek Dodge.

Dave eventually negotiated a 50% stake in the business were he to return to the Hoffman team, and for a time all was peaceful.

Did Dave Turin Quit?

During season seven, Dave left the crew for a brief period after another fruitless operation, and returned at the end of the season to work on another operation. The season ended in violence when Dave got into a fistfight with Trey Paulson. Dave explained that being family orientated, the tension in the crew can run high as the season progresses, as they begin to miss home life and their families. Then, the unthinkable happened – Dave Turin handed in his resignation. He Quit.

However, this was not the end of Dave Turin, as he still had big dreams for gold mining, and returned in a show of his own. “Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine” The show documents Dave’s traveling and transformative power, visiting dilapidated mines around the country and assessing the potential of each. He then decides which mines are worth his resources and energy, and resurrects them. He also returned to the main show.

Personal Life

Dave Turin is the type of person who pursues his dreams. This was certainly true when he married Shelly, the girl he had fallen for in high school.

Shelly trained as a nurse, but is currently unemployed, citing spousal support as her source of income. The two have three children, one of whom is Tony Turin, and all are married, and so are now grandparents. Dave is close to his children and grandchildren, and often posts pictures of himself spending quality time with them – whether it be at Disneyland or on fishing trips.

Appearance

Dave Turin is of average stature, but he has an explosive personality. Dave has dark hair which he wears short, but he also sports a beard which is beginning to grey.

Dave has brown eyes and has aged incredibly well. Dave is considerably shorter than average at 4ft 7ins (1.47m) and weighs 115 lbs (52kgs).

Net Worth and Salary

Gold mining can be a lucrative business, and this paired with the hefty salary that Discovery channel stars receive implies that Dave is able to live in relative comfort. This does not mean that he does not have to work hard for is money. Gold mining can be unpredictable, and sinking your cash into the wrong operation could mean the collapse of your finances. Dave Turin is not afraid to take risks but is still very discerning in his ventures, so has a net worth estimated at over $2 million as of mid-2020.
