Who is Firdous Bamji?
Firdous Bamji was born in Bombay, India, on 3 May 1966 – his zodiac sign is Taurus and he holds both Indian and American nationality. He is an actor and a writer, perhaps best known for his role in the American supernatural psychological thriller movie “The Sixth Sense” in 1999, written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan and which starred Bruce Willis, Haley Joel Osment and Tonie Collete. The story follows a boy who can talk with spirits, and was a huge success, as it won 36 awards and was nominated for 56 others, including six Oscars.
Early life and education
Firdous was raised alongside his two brothers in Bahrain by their mother Roshan who was a housewife, and their father Esadvaster who was the regional representative of the Norwich Union Life Insurance Society – both their parents were interested in doing charity work, and helped gather a lot of money for underprivileged children, and children with disabilities.
Firdous studied at St. Christopher’s School, Bahrain before he was moved to the American Kodaikanal International Boarding School located in the South Indian mountains.
Upon matriculation in 1984, Firdous enrolled at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, before moving to the University of South Carolina, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism in 1988. He continued working on his education, and obtained his Master of Fine Arts degree in journalism in 1990.
While still attending college, Firdous became more interested in rock music, and was the lead singer of a rock band he founded.

Firdous launched his acting career before enrolling at college, appearing in several plays such as “Burn This”, “Beirut” and “Danny, and the Deep Blue Sea” in which he portrayed the lead character Danny.
He eventually decided to move to Washington D. C. to take acting lessons at The Shakespeare Theatre, and his breakthrough role came in 1994 when he was chosen to appear in the play “SubUrbia” performed at Lincoln Center’s Mitzi Newhouse Theater – as it was performed in New York City, Firdous sold his car to move there. He went on to appear and star in many plays before making his debut TV series appearance, as Dr. Spears in the episode “New York News” of the eponymous drama series in 1995, which starred Mary Tyler Moore, Gregory Harrison and Madeline Kahn, and is about the people working for a New York City newspaper.
A year later, Firdous was invited to portray the supporting character E.R. Doctor in the drama movie “Firehouse”, but which failed to attract much attention.

In 2002, he was Dr. Kassam in the comedy crime movie “Analyze That”, which starred some big names such as Robert De Niro, Lisa Kudrow and Billy Crystal, but the movie was a failure, and only won a Stinker Award for Worst Sequel.
A few of Firdous’ following roles were in the comedy movie “Justice” in 2003, directed and written by Evan Oppenheime’, appeared in two episodes of the series “Law & Order” in 2004, and then starred as Sayeed Choudhury in the drama movie “The War Within” in 2005.
