Eoin Christopher Macken was born in Dublin, Ireland, on 21 February 1983 – his zodiac sign is Pisces and he holds Irish nationality. He is an actor, perhaps best known for his portrayal of the lead character T. C. Callahan in the romantic series “The Night Shift”, which aired from 2014 to 2017 and was created by Jeff Judah and Gabe Sachs. It also starred Jill Flint and Brendan Fehr, and it followed a team of doctors who come back from the Army to work at a San Antonio hospital – it won three awards and was nominated for two others.

Early life and education

Eoin was raised in Dublin alongside his two sisters, by their father who was a Barrister at Law and who died in 2007, and their mother who was a hairdresser.

Eoin was very sporting while attending high school, as he played soccer for the school’s team and was also practicing Gaelic football and lacrosse. Upon matriculation in 2001, he enrolled at University College, Dublin, where he became interested in acting. He was invited to take part in the university’s fashion show in both 2002 and 2003, and after being noticed by a modelling scout, he was signed to the Morgan Agency, eventually becoming the face of their campaign for Abercrombie and Fitch. Some of the other famous brands which he has modelled for include GQ and Ralph Lauren. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 2005.

Eoin made his debut film appearance in 2006, when he portrayed the lead character The Gunman in the short film “Triple Bill”, written and directed by Rick Larkin, and which also starred Emmett J Scanlan and Aisling Bodkin. In the same year he played the supporting character Tosh in the sports comedy film “Studs”, which is about the bottom rated soccer team in search of a new coach – it was nominated for four awards.

The year 2008 saw Eoin portray the main character Christian in the thriller film “Christian Blake”, which he also wrote and directed, and also starred Brian Fortune and Emmett J Scanlan. The film received rather poor reviews – the movie and TV series rating website IMDb has given it 3.2/10 score.

In 2009, he appeared as Ethan in the short western movie “Once Upon a Time in Dublin”, as well as in the short crime film “Aces”, directed and written by Robbie Walsh, but which failed to attract much attention. He went on to portray a supporting character in the crime thriller movie “Savage”, which starred Darren Healy, Nora-Jane Noone and Gerry Shanahan, and is about a man’s obsession with the people who randomly chose him as the victim of their attack – the film won Mairead McIvor an Irish Film and Television Award for Best Editing.

The year 2010 saw him play Achivir in the British historical action war movie “Centurion”, which was a box office success – it follows a legion of Roman soldiers who have to survive behind enemy lines. He went on to appear in the horror movie “Siren”, and the short horror fantasy film “Through the Night” before being invited in 2010 to star as Greg in the British thriller movie “Suspension of Disbelief”, which also starred Sebastian Koch, Lotte Verbeek and Emilia Fox, and follows Martin whose wife one day disappears, and after 15 years he meets and falls in love with another woman who disappears the same night as well.

In 2013, Eoin portrayed Prince Cal in the British romantic comedy movie “The Callback Queen”, and he also appeared as Jack in the romantic thriller movie “Cold” which he also wrote and directed, and which won Eimear Ennis Graham a nomination for Bingham Ray New Talent Award for Galway Film Fleadh.

Some of Eoin’s following roles were in the short crime movie “Paddy’s in the Boot”, in which he played the lead character Sean Ennis in 2015, the science fiction action movie “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” in which he played Doc in 2016, and the romantic comedy “The Wedding Invitation” in which he starred as Graham in 2017. The year 2018 saw him play the lead character Conor in the short film “Cross Maglen”, and he went on to portray Conall in the action thriller movie “Close”, which was written and directed by Vicky Jewson, and wass about a woman who is hired to serve as an heiress’ bodyguard – the film received mixed reviews.

Some of Eoin’s most recent appearances in movies have been in the supernatural horror “The Hole in the Ground” and the short movie “Caitlin” both in 2019, and the horror movie “I Am Fear” in 2020.

Eoin has six roles in TV series credited to his name. He made his debut TV series appearance in 2008, when he guest starred as Gavin Cluxton in the tenth episode of the 19th season of the Irish soap opera “Fair City”, which has been airing since 1989 and which currently counts around 1670 episodes.

In 2010, he appeared as Jack in a single episode of the Irish series “RAW”, created by Lisa McGee and starring Charlene McKenna and Keith McErlean, which follows the lives of people working at the restaurant Raw in Dublin; the series won one award and was nominated for seven others. In the same year, Eoin played an English Officer in the historical fiction series “The Tudors”, which follows a family living in England in the 16th Century.

He went on to portray his first supporting character Sir Gwaine in the critically acclaimed British fantasy adventure series “The Adventures of Merlin”, which starred John Hurt, Colin Morgan and Bradley James, and was very successful, as it won four awards and was nominated for 25 others.

One of Eoin’s most recent appearances in a TV series has been playing the lead character Karl D’Branin in the American horror science fiction series “Nightflyers”, created by Jeff Buhler, and which also starred David Ajala and Jodie Turner-Smith. The series follows a group of scientists travelling on a spaceship Nightflyer on their way to investigate an alien signal – it was nominated for a Golden Reel and a Visual Effects Society Award.

In 2006 he started seeing Irish singer and a TV presenter Una Healey, who is two years older than Eoin. She gained recognition in 2008 after she joined the girl band The Saturdays, but in the same year she and Eoin broke up for unknown reasons.

In 2010 Eoin met Kellie Blaise, who is an actress, singer and a writer, perhaps best known for her portrayal of Lone Tech in the action adventure movie “Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy”, which came out in 2018. They dated for just over a year before splitting, and since then Eoin has either been single, or has been very good at keeping the details of his love life hidden. He hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and other interests

Eoin is regarded as physically very active. Summer is his favorite season, as he is an avid swimmer while he also enjoys sailing and has his own boat. He has been surfing since he was 11 years old, and is today better than all of his friends.
