Who is Caterina Murino?
Caterina Murino is an Italian actress and model, who is perhaps still best known for her role in the 2006 film “Casino Royale.” In 2008, she received a European Golden Globe at the Italian Golden Globe Awards.
Caterina Murino Age, Early Life, Family, and Education Background
Caterina was born under the Virgo Zodiac sign on 15 September 1977, in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy, making her 43 years old in September 2020. She is an Italian by nationality and belongs to white ethnicity.
She grew up alongside her siblings, and her whole family was very supportive of her career.
Although she has not shared the names of her parents or siblings, she’s known to have at least a brother. In an interview, she had this to say: ‘my parents wanted me to become a doctor, and they weren’t happy when I chose to be in the theater, acting.’
Regarding her education, Caterina has a degree in drama. According to her response during the interview, she stated that everyone in her family went to university. Her elder brother is a lawyer, which is why they expected her to take a different route when it came to her career.
However, when her family saw her at the theater for the first time, they loved it a lot and gave her their blessings to continue with it.
Caterina Murino Professional Career and Rise to Stardom
As mentioned, Caterina wanted to be a doctor, but was actually denied admission to the schools, and so she opted for theater. In 1996, she finished fourth in the Miss Italy contest, then Caterina relocated to Milan, where she started working as a model in commercials for Swatch, Nescafe, MasterCard and Mercedes Benz, among other companies.
Murino then moved on to London, where she fell in love with acting and theater; she would survive on yogurt to save up weekly to see something in West End theaters. Caterina decided to move back to Italy, and between 1999 and 2000 she studied drama at the Scuola di Cinema e Teatro in the institution run by Francesca De Sapio.
Caterina made her acting debut in 1999, an appearance in a “Richard III” stage production. She was also a part of numerous Italian language plays. In 2002, Murino started her television and film career, playing bit parts in French, Italian and German productions.
Her breakthrough came in 2004 when she co-starred in “L’enquete Corse,” a French comedy alongside Jean Reno – to appear in this film, Caterina had to learn enough French in just four months, so she is now trilingual, speaking fluent Italian, French and English.
In 2006, Caterina appeared in the James Bond film “Casino Royale” as Solange Dimitrios, alongside the Daniel Craig, which gathered her immense popularity. In 2008, she received a European Golden Globe award at the Italian Golden Globe Awards.
In early 2011, Caterina co-starred in the BBC One short-lived television series “Zen”, with Rufus Sewell. The same year, she also appeared in two video clips, including The Gypsy Queens’ l’ Italiano party band and the Bob Sinclar’s music video “Far l’amore.”
Two years later, Murino starred in the television production “Odysseus” as Penelope, Ulysses’ wife. In 2016, Caterina appeared in the suspense Bollywood thriller movie “Fever.” Other movies she has starred in include “The Squad,” “The Invincible Piglet,” “We Are Family,” and “Voice from the Stone” in 2017.
Caterina Murino Life, Dating, Husband, and Children
Caterina has been in five relationships – her first boyfriend was Giuseppe Pancaro, and the couple began their relationship in 1999, but they broke up in 2001. Giuseppe is a former Italian football defender. He later turned to a coach, and is now the manager of Pistoiese.
Caterina took a break from the (public) dating scene, only to get back in 2006 when she began dating Cyrill Renaud, a French cameraman, but they dated for only a short while as they broke up the same year.
Dear Friends,I was honoured to be featured in Peter Blake’s largest ever artwork, ‘Our fans’. It has now been cut into…
In the same year Caterina then met and apparently fell in love with Austin Fuentes, an American billionaire heir and philanthropist, however, their relationship was also short-lived as they broke up that same year.
Between December 2007 and January 2008, Caterina dated Bryan Adams, a Canadian musician. When his girlfriend, Elle Macpherson, saw the couple on a date in Paris, she broke up with the rock musician.
Caterina took another break, but in 2009 began dating Pierre Rabadan, a French international rugby union player who plays for Stade Francais.
The couple has been in a long-term relationship ever since, but there’s no news of the two formalizing their union, or having any children.
When Caterina is not acting, she loves singing and dancing flamenco, tango, and oriental dances. She also enjoys horseback riding and traveling. Her favorite food is Italian, and jasmine tea.
