Camila Banus was born in Miami Beach, Florida USA, on 22 July 1990 – her zodiac sign is Leo and she holds American nationality. She is an actress, perhaps best known for her portrayal of Gabi Hernandez in the romantic drama series “Days of Our Lives” which has been airing since 1965, while Camila was a member of the main cast from 17 September 2010 to 12 June 2014. The series stars Frances Reid, John Clarke and Macdonald Carey, and it is about the lives of people living in the made-up city of Salem.

Camila was raised in Miami Beach alongside her younger sister Gabriela, by their father Jaime Banus who was an electrician, and their mother Carmen who was a cleaning lady. Both girls became interested in acting while attending elementary school, and they appeared in many school plays before joining their high school’s drama club.

Camila was interested in a variety of things while attending high school, as she played soccer, learnt to play the piano, and was practicing her writing skills. Upon matriculation in 2008, she decided to focus on her career as an actress, and didn’t enroll at a college.

Career as an actress

She made her debut TV series appearance in 2008 when she portrayed Lola Montez in the romantic drama series “One Life to Live”, which starred Erika Slezak, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson, and which is about the Lord and Woleks families living in the made-up city of Llanview.

The series won 95 awards while it was nominated for 423 others including two Primetime Emmys – Camila was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Outstanding Young Performer in a TV series in 2009. She went on to portray Alice in the short war film drama “Summer Camp”, directed and written by Danijel Sraka, and which is about two teenagers who find out they are brothers while fighting in a civil war.

The year 2013 saw her portray Talia Portillo in the action adventure drama film “Counterpunch”, which starred Alvaro Orlando and Danny Trejo and is about the real story of Emilio who is a boxer dreaming about winning the Golden Gloves championship.

In 2014, Camila played Simone Funicello in the coming of age comedy movie “Wishin’ and Hopin’” which starred Wyatt Ralff, Molly Ringwald and Chevy Chase, and which is closely based on the eponymous novel written by Wally Lamb. In 2016, she appeared in a single episode of the romantic drama thriller series “Mistresses” which starred Alyssa Milano, Jes Macallan and Rochelle Aytes, and is about four girlfriends who are on their path of self-discovery; the series won a People’s Choice Award for Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year.

In 2018, Camila played a lead character in the thriller film “Killer Caregiver”, which also starred Nicole Hayden and Jaeden Bettencourt, and is about a woman who finds out that her caregiver is determined to ruin her life.

Her latest appearance has been in 2018 and 2019, when she portrayed Nina Ferrera in the musical drama series “Star”, created by Lee Daniels and Tom Donaughy, and which starred Jude Demorest, Brittany O’Grady and Ryan Destiny; the series was nominated for six awards.

Since 2012, Camila has been in a relationship with her boyfriend Marlon Aquino. The two met while they were shooting for the same film and have now been together for around eight years.
