Liam and Cheryl met back in 2008 when Liam auditioned for “The X Factor” and on which Cheryl was a judge, but they didn’t start dating until 2016 – before Cheryl, Liam dated the dancer Danielle Peazer from 2010 to 2012, and then his long-term friend Sophia Smith from 2013 to 2015, while he is today engaged to famous model Maya Henry.
Cheryl was married twice before meeting Liam, to famous soccer player Ashley Cole from 2006 to 2010 when she filed for divorce, and to Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, a French restaurateur from 7 July 2014 to 2016.

He was raised alongside his sisters Ruth and Nicola by their father Geoff Payne who was a fitter, and their mother Karen who was a nurse.
Liam had problems early on in life as his doctors discovered that one of his kidneys was dysfunctional, so Liam had to take 16 injections every morning and evening at the age of four. The boys published their book “One Direction: Forever Young (Our Official X Factor Story)”, and released their first song “What Makes You Beautiful” in September 2011. Only two months later, One Direction released their debut album “Up All Night” and it topped the US Chart – their second album “Take Me Home” came out in November 2012 and topped charts in around 35 countries including the Billboard 200.
After a year, the boys released their third album “Midnight Memories” which was followed by another album “Four” in November 2014 as well as their fifth album “Made in the A. M.” in late 2015.
Liam launched his solo career in 2016, after signing a contract with Republic Records, and on 19 May 2017, his debut single “Strip That Down” came out, co-written by Steven Mac and Ed Sheeran – it peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200 Chart and #3 on the UK Albums Chart.
His debut extended play (EP) was released on 24 August 2018 entitled “First Time”, while his debut album “LP1” came out on 6 December 2019, but to mostly negative reviews.
